I do think he was "Christian" at some point - just based off what he would post on social media prior to his rise in fame on Youtube, he wasnt grifting then so there would have been no real benefit to keep up the charade.... He wasn't posting anything great - and his theology was pretty shallow, but that is to be expected.I don’t think Nick ever really was a Christian. His background was Catholic, both of his parents came from very Catholic families involved in their religious and secular communities from what I’ve read doing dives into their history. I don’t know when he left the Church, but I’m guessing college when his dorm was an EverQuest/ goon cave. Nick went from Catholic to Lutheran to non-denominational that branched from Lutheran to “heretical” in public.
However I'd like to point out that while he grew up Catholic, at some point he started going to a Lutheran church after meeting our wife. I believe Kayla's family was always Lutheran... Lutheran's (at least the more conservative denominations) have a lot of the same sacraments and stuff that Catholics do, so it was probably in some ways familiar to him. HOWEVER, they went to the ELCA Lutheran denomination for a long time (prior to the current non-denominational that they attend now), which is extremely liberal. This is on their FB page at the start of pride month:

ELCA is pretty much heretical at this point, and is full of people who only seek the "feel good" version of Christianity without all the "sin stuff". ELCA justifies this by essentially saying that the Bible is not the inspired word of God, that it was written by man and those men's personal opinions where written in there. e.g. - opinions on homosexuality in the Bible are not from God, but were the personal feelings of the men writing the books.... Essentially Biblical literalism is not accepted doctrine. They also operate on the doctrine of basically "unlimited grace", there are some sins - but nothing that God punishes because he always forgives.... Basically Rackets Biblical opinions are modified versions of ELCA doctrine, that he has somehow even made more hedonistic...
