What possible "missing context" for an "obvious joke" could there be for a vtuber when you're doing a stream in a childish voice, with a child avatar, making explicit sexual references to fetishes that you personally purport to enjoy, pandering to a carefully cultivated fanbase of pedos who do nothing but post creepy loli artwork on twitter and deviant art and make barely veiled pedo sex jokes in your comments? (Like the "uohhh" shit)

What am I missing?

Roshi is also treated as an abhorrent creep in universe for ogling underage women, I think that should really be pointed out. He's not meant as a paragon of morality, he's meant as an old weirdo who was once really fucking great at martial arts and got famous for it. Watched both DB and DBZ when they were both on TV back in the day and that's like one of the MAIN things that's a consistent factor with his character throughout both of em.

Another poster had an idea I think has potential - reopen Devils' Island prison colony, but set up livestream CCTV all over the island and charge a subscription to watch the fun as they kill each other over the scant resources. Maybe drop enough food for 1/4th of the current population to give them something to work for.

More complicated than just shooting them, but I guess if you can't do that isolating them could work.

This is the type of argument that actually empowers lolicon pedos hence why I'm insistent to specify what exactly a lolicon or the lolicon fetishists are.

In the not so recent past, we're talking decades not centuries, it was not considered weird or uncommon for an adult man to be interested in teenage girls. Hell it wasn't considered messed up if a 22 year old was dating a girl who was 16. That's why there are so many laws in countries where the limit between a consenting adult and a teen is somewhere in the high school years. This is because pubescent and post-pubescent teenagers are not the same as children. They have romantic and sexual desires that come naturally and they begin to take on or have adult features.

It's only in recent years do we see this overton window shifting constantly to include older and older and broader and broader definitions to the point on the extreme end that you have women calling older men dating younger women pedophiles (like a 30 year old dating a 20 year old). Is a panty shot of a teenage girl gratuitous? Yes. Is it lolicon? hell no.

When everything is pedophilia, it loses its meaning. Consent laws are put in place not because of the physical appearance of a teenager but because of their mental state and vulnerability and how an adult will be able to take advantage of them. Children who were not abused have no sexual desire nor resemble an adult in anyway. They are not sexual beings and should never be considered as such.

So when the lolicon pedophiles go to create arguments, they'll say something like "You know all those psychos who tell you you're a pedophile for thinking Kelly from Married with Children is hot? They do the same to me, I just like smaller women, with only smaller womanly features." it has the witch hunt connotation of yeah it's just a over-reaction and people forget about it. Only when a flare up happens like Kiki coming out saying she wants to see a 4 year old get fucked by a fat old man do you see the true insidious nature of it.

Teens are not children, they're adolescents.

The context doesn't matter to people making the argument that anime = pedophilia. It doesn't matter what message the show is trying to convey or what it wants you to think about those characters, an underage girl flashes her tits and her vagina and so it's pedophilia. I don't think like this. Personally I think all of the arguments around these topics, here or elsewhere, are just people taking the opportunity to virtue signal, to gain favor with the community they're trying to be a part of. None of it amounts to anything or results in any change, it's just a stage for people to strut their moral righteousness
