Im feeling pretty optimistic about what happened, because no matter how you put it, the assassination attempt is a really good shock of reality to the political elite.

The usual shit-stirring assholes aside, it is something they cannot condone because if they do, then they are placing a bullseye on themselves as well. You can see that in how quickly Biden and international leaders condemned the attempt in the hours after it happened - None of them dared to say Trump deserved it.

I think the secret service will get an admonition and told to work harder, and while I don't know if Antifa will get the beating it deserves, I expect their benefactors to shorten their leash and throw more of their radicals out.

It very well could be a symptom. But a lack of fear doesn’t necessarily mean someone’s a psycho.

From what I saw, I think there was some fear. There was definitely confusion. He knows a bullet hit his head and he stands up, probably thinking these may be his last words, and says “fight” x3. He can’t muster more than one word in this moment. Which is unlike him.

Furthermore, his first reaction is to get his shoes. Much like when someone in war gets a limb blown off and they try to go get it. Or when WTC victims thought about going up to the damaged areas to get suit like their wallets.

If Trump stood up and cracked a joke I’d say fear was absent. He was at least a little afraid and confused. That also doesn’t mean he’s not a psychopath or that he doesn’t have the traits of one.

Vance is white and young and has developed into a "mini-Trump" of sorts after being a critic of him in 2016.

He is assassination insurance for Trump.

The Google results for his name is nothing but bull shit about his "dangerous" rhetoric and "Trumpist" language from the usual NPC media sites. It's safe to assume he's alright.

Trump said he stood up, saw the crowd wasn't moving, and had to let them know he was OK. He's a showman, he instinctively looks for the crowd and knows to interact with them. Only being able to come up with 1 word is probably the adrenaline blotting out the verbal part.

You actually hear something like this happen from professional wrestlers, whose entire career is live performing. When they botch a move, injure themselves or another wrestler, they'll instinctively turn away from or towards the crowd, depending on what they need to show. They'll make the motions as if everything is fine, while trying to figure out what to do, live in the ring. If you listen to their interviews years after the fact, there's all kinds of stories where they describe that reaction, even in the middle of career-ending injuries, to instinctively keep the crowd going.

It's no coincidence that Trump is in the Wrestling Hall of Fame.
