I'm actually fascinated Orchard doesn't touch more complex shows. I almost feel bad, it's gotta suck to live that way. Lily wants her media a certain way and it BETTER be this way or I am LEAVING AN ANGRY REVIEW on it on yelp.

Is there ever a chance Lily will take on a more complex cartoon? I guess maybe if it has lesbians in it, but that's optimistic.

Lily has historically shown preferences towards media of two types, borderline coffee shop AU's with no conflict, and violent yet conflictless borderline self insert shit where she gets to easily defeat all the types of evil bad guys. Every hobby she engages in is a form of power fantasy or escapism, either a chance to imagine having a good life or to imagine that she is a powerful person who can make things happen the way she wants them to happen. Even her marriage is like that, she barely ever interacts with her wife in any meaningful way, they don't even live in the same country, but it lets her larp that she has a happy loving family. Simply put, if it can't either make her feel powerful or make her feel like she has a loving, stress free life, she doesn't want it in her life.

Not to get all Jungian, but I would confidently that this is indicative of the fact that she simply doesn't like thinking, and seeks out activities where she doesn't have to think. This is at least the best reason that I could come up with for why everything she consumes and to a lesser extent* everything she produces is either, childish or consumed by Lily in such a way that it becomes childish. More complicated media, or media made for more mature audiences makes you think and feel complex emotions, which runs directly counter to the reasons she seems to consume media in the first place. Plus because of how often she claims that stories that make you think are some kind of abuse fetishism, I would bet money that Lily legit feels some sort of pain or anguish when she has to sit down and think about something.

*I don't mean to imply any degree of maturity with regards to the things that she herself writes, they're just really childish for other reasons as well, most notably the fact that Lily is an awful writer who has no idea how the world around her works.

Yeah, I got pushback on the sibling affection video from porn-brained, loveless freaks of nature, but way more people felt validated by it and compelled to show their siblings more open affection.
As much as Twitter might make it seem otherwise, opinions like this are not the norm.
While I was writing the sibling affection video I was googling around for other people's opinions, always wary that my opinions are coloured by how gruesome my childhood was. So I was looking up a lot of discussions about how close is too close for siblings (r/relationship_advice is great for this).
And the majority opinion was usually "if they're not fucking, mind your own business you fucking weirdo."
It's considered by most people to be a lot weirder to assume siblings are "too close." A third party sexualizing the relationship between two people is just very weird and strange behaviour.

Which is pretty funny given that rant she just went on about Korra and how the most potential it ever had was a complicated civil war storyline about the isolationism versus modernization of the Water Tribe.

I think? Gonna be honest I've tried watching Korra through three times and I lways give up at the start of season 2. The conflict might be interesting but it bores me to tears the way they handle it.

Is that why Lily enjoys this arc so much? It's basically just people sitting down and talking at each other. Sometimes they walk while talking. I don't need high-octane action to keep my attention but from what I remember this part of Korra is basically just people telling other people about their philosophy and feelings. Very little in the way of interpretation necessary.

I notice that Lily seems to enjoy when things are spelled out to her (maybe this is why she likes Kingdom Hearts? The storyline gets incredibly dumb but yhe characters are constantly telling each other how they feel-- maybe she just has an easier time tracking that) and gets pissy when characters obfuscate information or lie and expect yhe audience to pick up on subtler clues. But when you just get people sitting at a table telling each other what's happened and how it makes them sad or whatever she's right on it.

I'm not above the idea that cartoons can't be complex because they can be and often are. Many Pixar and Disney films, for an easy example, often touch on very adult themes. The thing is they either make them easy to understand since kids by nature are immature and can't process such themes or they give the story a happy ending so the child isn't bogged down by the depressing realism. It's why Joe from Soul got to live instead of die as was one of the endings shopped around before it was deemed too depressing. It's why Abuela from Encanto got to be redeemed rather than people calling her a piece of shit for abusing her entire family. Kids can handle harsh topics but the writers must always keep in mind that they service a child audience first and an older demographic second.

I think this is where I'm always dumbfounded with Lily in that she only solely engages in either children's media or sitcoms and the occasional milquetoast anime, and so her criteria is severely limited. A lot of what she complains with the stories in cartoons is either that they didn't handle a topic with more nuance (re: Rose fighting on both sides of a war) or it took a nosedive into being more serious and dramatic (re: Tangled the Series, The Owl House, et cetera).

There's also the blatant fact Lily has no idea how storytelling in different medias or author's intent (which contrary to popular belief is actually important to consider) work so she draws comparisons that are ill-suited for the point she's trying to make, such as comparing Angel Dust's portrayal of sexual abuse to Lisa's from the Lisa games and that (possibly accidentally) led to the direct implication that Lily wanted Lisa's abuse to be explicit. But because Lily's range in media is so limited, that was the best comparison she could make.

I vaguely remember that she tweeted that people criticized her for not watching anything more than a TV-Y7 show and that she did watch adult shows but if she did her comparisons and references wouldn't be so limited regardless of the fact she solely reviews children's media on her channel. I refuse to believe she's hiding the shows she watches on purpose, that quite literally makes no sense.

And, fine, whatever, I watch a lot of cartoons and anime so the call is coming from inside the house or whatever, but I also have favorite shows and games from any different genre. I know what's my favorite but I'm never limiting myself to that. I don't really care that Lily only watches cartoons and shows for adults who never grew up, it's her prerogative to consume whatever she wants. Had Lily gotten a small internet group of people, around 200, to watch the review videos and only follow Lily's views and never talked to anyone outside of that bubble, Lily would have been fine. If Orchard never got out of the small time youtube stuff, Lily wouldn't have to constantly reeee back at how people are dumb for not getting her opinions and wouldn't have to face the fact that Lily herself is a dunce. If you're respecting pronouns and names, it's much harder for Orchard to shout at you that you're fucking heckin transphobe. IIRC this used to be one of a few places you could shittalk Peet before more tumblr blogs and the rest of youtube started clowning on the videos, so the thread being older and providing a resource for those who needed to have pronouns respected or dismiss the source entirely (whether they liked to or not) was a good practice. Lily also reads this thread, so it's hilarious when you know she's coping and seething that she can't call her personal thread transphobic (but will still do it anyway) and I think keeping it going as-is is funny due to it.

Obviously, Ms. Peet is going to scream and cry no matter what you call Lily and there's more resources documenting the awful behavior of this dipshit over time that you can cite sites other than kiwi farms, I assume misgendering is a ok now. Even then, malicious compliance is funny.

I need to find the clip, if anyone has it be my guest, one of the worst things she's said to Mikay on stream was when Mikay sounded unhappy and Lily asked "why are you acting like I killed your dog again".
