If Britain in a hundred years from now is an Islamic caliphate with all state schools being Islamic and raising children to be good little Muslims, would you say "we still have our culture because we're still the same race"? Perhaps I misunderstand you, but culture varies separately from race. Or do you follow an idea of cultural predestination where the culture of a given racial demographic will always revert to some mean?
Well I hope we won’t be, but if we are it will be because we’ve been replaced by Arabs, Pakistanis etc. or diluted to the point we are no longer us. I think it’s not predestination, so much as something very deeply held that takes a long time, or dilution , or utter conquest and force (and even then it doesn’t happen fast.)
. The movie Fargo is about how one or two bad elements cut a swathe through a small village of innocents. Having lived in scandiwegia for a while years back I see that film in a new light. The inhabitants of that area are mainly Scandinavian origin, and they’re that very ‘blue eyed swede’ type - not physically but the phrase means someone who thinks the best of others to the point that the bad guys just steamroller them. They retain certain aspects of culture, despite hundreds of years in a new environment. Their culture is still their race from the old environment.
Americans are 400 plus years removed from euros but they still have the same cultural outlook in many ways.
It may not hold over millennia, I’m not we wuzzing being a Scythian here, and I doubt the hugenot still think of themselves as distinct, but I think that in the immediate term, which is what we are looking at in the uk now,
broad race and culture are effectively the same thing. There’s probably a dilution effect as well- you import one French kid and bring him up as a Brit his kids are de facto british. If you import ten thousand Brits to the Costa del Sol you’ve got British pubs and people not speaking Spanish.
If the idea of race being culture is offensive then let’s go with culture is race with a shitload of inertia before it moulds to the new environment. The mistake we’ve made is assuming THEY turn into US, rather than us being dominated by them. That very clearly hasn’t happened, the tribalism, cultural opinions and violence types and levels just carry over. It’s not wiped fresh and new simply by coming over here and being born in wales. If it was, we wouldn’t have so much of an issue
