Though if Jason was going to transition, I do not know why he would be artificially making his voice more masculine
Good point, I was too focused on the whole "woman" angle, and the guy already looks like a troon. The only thing I can think of is that he correctly assumes that deeper voice helps him project his "authority", so he has to keep it up before the "final transition", but that's pretty weak.

Mald bulles psychologist by using a lot of words to give barely-an-answer. The way he focuses on "perception" in the second half is interesting.

The justifications he uses to cope with the fact that he has been working on Heartbound for several years and how they change:

(Preserve Tube)
January 2022: "RPGs are hard, RPGs take a long time and this why Heartbound has taken four years to develop"

(Preserve Tube)
2024: "It's about the journey, not the destination"

Might be worth including in the "long COVID" timeline. Here he goes on to say that along with COVID he also contracted some sort of a "fungal infection". At around 1:00 he claims the "recovery" took 2.5 years, and at 2:05 he establishes a rough timeline, although aside from the "Januray 2020", it's quite vague, unless you count the spastic mouse movements over the calendar:

(Preserve Tube)
1. 0:59 - 1:04 "My recovery was 2.5 years so i got long Covid". So now in 2024 he claims that he got one instance of long COVID which contradicts the instances where he said that he got COVID in 2020 and in 2023. Also it contradicts the tweets he made back in March 2020 where he said that the COVID test came out negative and he had "severe bronchitis": (Archive 1) (Archive 2) (Archive 3)

2. 1:04 - 1:21 : "my lungs shut down at one point I almost died they had me in and out of the ER for a long time my I think the worst part is I went through what was called hypoxia which is I feel good I feel great but I just need to sit down for a minute and then my lips turned blue so it was like a huge problem I almost suffocated to death standing in my own kitchen".
This is somewhat consistent with the Steam update he did back in May 2020 but again he doesn't mention COVID in it but severe bronchitis. He also says that his lungs shut down in the 2024 clip but in the Steam update says that he lost "around 70% lung function" and in the 2024 clip he adds the detail that he was in the kitchen when hypoxia kicked in which isn't present in the steam update:

3. 1:25 - 2:01: "Months afterwards I was still having breathing problems and they had me on an on an inhaler the person who gave me the steroid in in Haler never told me you're supposed to wash your mouth out after using your steroid inhaler so this can lead to a fungal overgrowth which you didn't know and I went to the doctor cuz it was like my mouth is burning all the time like what the hell's going on and they're like oh that might be fungus let's figure this out and they gave me um like an antifungal and the antifungal actually made it so I could breathe again instantly cuz what had happened is I got covid into a fungal effect infection in my lungs that we didn't know and then I finally recovered from that with the antifungals which is like okay yeah but now I after that I was able to do stuff again".
Convenient that he only brings up the fungal infection now in 2024 and not in Feb 2021. Quite a convenient detail to add. It's kinda surprising he didn't add this detail back in Feb 2021 because this dude always loves to find excuses to justify why the development of Heartbound is taking so long.

4. 2:09 - 2:13: "Right here is where I went to dream hack in January 2020 and I got covid" Ok buddy:

Everything Jason does, is because he is insecure.
He calls himself Thor because he doesn't feel confident in the name Jason. It doesn't project manliness.
He deepens his voice because he isn't the booming figure he wants to be.
He asserts his 20 years experience because he feels he hasn't accomplished anything and needs to make it seem like he has done something big or important. He WANTS so desperately to be big and important.
Now that he's finally getting a taste of what he wanted, he is overreacting and actively working towards losing it by blowing up at Ross.

I thought to ask specifically, where on his CV is his "government hacking job"? I am guessing it is his specialist job at the eagle cyber company for a year after working at Amazon, which doesn't line up with his story of him transferring from blizzard red team over to a DoD contract under the US department of energy. I wouldn't doubt the company could have been a contractor or 3rd party, but h would not be talking about his ass so much where it's all "I was le hacker!" and not provide an ounce of evidence or work experience stories, just very vague. That and also him talking about the job would be violating NDA's.

Why do these people with such embarrassing backgrounds get into pissing matches for no reason? If I was a yandev-tier game dev leaching off my fans with an embarrassing past as a gay furry I would simply stay in my lane, keep my head down, and enjoy the easy money while it lasts. Nobody but a few kiwifarm’s users would care about this dudes dirty laundry if he didn’t go to bat for AAA Jewry.

I suspect it's a mix between his financial interests in that live service game he has a stake in, his inner blizzard corpo instinct tingling, and his mistaken belief that that was a loser cause he could gain clout by trashing.

There is this new trend of career developers. They develop one game perpetually. They are the game's development and nothing else.
Finding the time to waste creating easter eggs, chatting up minors, or streaming, Hakita, Yandere-dev, and Jason are perfect examples of "I am not without my lucky break, ride the gravy train and string shit out endlessly until my fans grow grey and dry of sheckles"

What's the new beef on Hakita? I only have seen them post on social media, and haven't heard of any new thing that they're working on.

What a thread, I can't believe you've made me think to myself "well YandereDev kinda sucks but wow this guy is way worse"

I was always off-put by this guys overly professional tone on everything. I remember when the Apex Legends RCE hit the news, Thor dropped his analysis video where he opened by saying "Hey just so everyone knows I am an industry professional and I know exactly what I'm talking about, I'm a big boy and I don't fuck around, now let's get into this."

Immediately says "yeah so this guy could just be lying and he installed his own cheats, I don't buy it" until it was pointed out that the chat was being involuntarily spammed with garbage by whatever cheat was remotely installed. After this overly confident stupid jump-to-conclusions, the rest was just surface level basic information about how RCEs can be executed. Is being a successful super hacker twitch guy really as easy as taking some speech classes and talking big game, so long as you can say my daddy worked at Blizzard to back it up?

Also oh my god that gigantic array for all of the story events is such a nightmare wtf. Dude every modern programming language has tables/dictionaries/some hashmap wrapper with O(1) lookup complexity. You can just store plain strings and have self-documenting code for a very negligible performance hit.

Hardcoding array indexes and numbers like this is like 101 never do this in a large codebase because now I need to juggle your code comment documentation (that you may very well forget to update) and what array index points to, like OP pointed out, a dictionary you can just fucking do like storyline_array["coffee_status"] == COFFEE_HOT or whatever to better encapsulate and self-document.

This is peak faggot code, make it complex and annoying to understand so people think you're smart, make it hard to refactor and pass to other developers for job security and make people dependent on you knowing better than everyone else what array indexes point to what action in the game.

He's the CEO of his own company but still pretends to be fighting to keep himself relevant like at Blizzard. "You can't figure out how my code works because then they'll replace me, so I'm just gonna make it cryptic and obnoxious so only I can tell you how it works". This is extremely common practice in the industry and I'm almost certain whatever code he wrote at Blizzard was just as terrible to keep himself employed on top of being a nepo baby.

The ONLY possible way to make this array index shit better is to have a constant value tied to everything that also self-documents. like storyline_array[COFFEE_STATUS] == COFFEE_HOT instead of just raw numbers. where COFFEE_STATUS and COFFEE_HOT are just an alias for the number. at least you'd know what the constant value is without needing to consult Thors all-mighty pile of code comments, comments that he may not keep up-to-date if other things take priority in the project.

I am not a professional programmer, I do not have years of experience in the industry, and I can say with extreme confidence that this approach fucking sucks and whatever performance benefit comes from array index lookups versus using a dictionary is basically non-existent to warrant making something so unreadable and annoying to follow.

God King Terry put it best "an idiot admires complexity, a genius admires simplicity". He probably did an excellent job appeasing the idiots at Blizzard with this shit.

That's not complexity, though, complexity would be doing something like using a custom file format to store the dialogues. What he's doing is just stupid.

I really appreciate this thread. I enjoy reading about game dev spergs and seeing knowledgeable people tear them apart. Kiwi game devs rise up.

I want to beat this nigger's dysgenic octagon head in for using nested branches and multidimensional arrays so much. That shit is the epitome of "look at me I'm a smart programmer". That shit is hard to reason about and I am foaming at the mouth just thinking about working that way. I want to inflict pain on this ferret-fucking freak. I'm not really a sadist, so I'll just seed one of his shitty games.

Too bad I'll never get to pirate Heartbound. It's never, EVER going to be finished. Jason's the type to be cognizant of that and laugh about it in private, I think. He is a grifter through and through. Too bad that's what his faggot neckbeard dad passed down instead of the actual programming skills. I don't think anyone has shared the clip of him talking about his dad being the neckbeard from the WoW episode of South Park. This faggot is the failson of the South Park WoW neckbeard. That's low.
