Nick was angry with his original lawyer because she worked on her own initiative and didn't make the absurd objections that her client demanded, he likely shopped around for a lawyer who would see things 100% his way and act as little more than his mouthpiece. Nick is the one in control here, he's the one pulling every string, his lawyer is simply repeating what Nick tells him to. That doesn't mean the lawyer hasn't bought into Nick's bullshit, but in the end it's still Nick's bullshit.
