Mega Rad Gun Thread

Yeah but the factory barrels aren't threaded and I'd like to get a supressor before the end of this year.
SilencerCo or KKM then.
imho i would go with Tyrant or KKM for a threaded suppressor barrel on a Glock for duty loads. i've used KKM in the past with great success (Glock 20, 10mm 210gr SJHP at 950ish f/s through a 416R stainless KKM with an A-TEC (formerly Qual-A-Tech, if you were a cool guy back in the day) suppressor in the early to mid 90's. very accurate, much pressure, powerful quiet. there's probably newer cool stuff on the market and matching a suppressor with a barrel is probably a good idea.

the P-series always looked to me like it borrowed its aesthetics from a brutalist building. I love the lines of them.

They also feel really good in my hands, I handled a P95 at a gunshop many years ago before they were discontinued, one of my greatest regrets is never buying one when you could get them new. They were cheap too. I think the shop wanted $325 for it brand new.

So, Sig (the non-American one) has decided that they wanted to modernize the 55X Series guns. My only question is why the fuck would you do that, they have never had a major military contract for them, the contracts that they did get were for LE agencies (and that was some time ago), there are numerous options that are just flat out better. They've added so much MCX (and by extension, AR) DNA that you're just flat out better off buying an MCX (or better yet, an AR). The only conceivable "feature" (if you can even call it that) that either an AR or MCX lacks compared to this is the ability to use 550 series mags, not that you would ever want to. This is like Beretta bringing back the AR-70

Kel Tec being in Florida explains a lot.

Get a Smith and Wesson CSX, that way you can have the heaviest subcompact pistol you can buy.
The CSX isn't a good choice for several reasons:
1. It can't take a light. It has no rail.
2. There's no optics-ready version.
3. It has an issue where the trigger has a false reset.
People will tell you that the "AR" in "AR-15" is short for "ArmaLite Rifle," but what it's really short for is "America's Rifle."
It stands for ArmaLite. Just ArmaLite. The AR-17 is a semi-automatic shotgun.

1. Skill issue, just squint
2. Skill issue, just practice with irons
3. Skill issue, just don’t miss the first shot

I mean 600 000 guns for the Swiss military is pretty major in my books.

The PSS is a fascinating little gun. IMO the main thing holding it back is it's reliance on a specialized proprietary cartridge. Naturally for the Russian Government that's not a bug its a feature, but objectively it's a detriment. If they could achieve the same results with common caliber it would be truly an extraordinary firearm.

Here's a diagram of how the internal piston system works.

I've been looking for a 9mm carbine, and while I'm probably going to end up with some kind of CZ Scorpion variant, I found this and thought it was pretty cool.

Ruger PC Carbine

Has takedown capability on all models, easy ambi switchable controls, and adapters for multiple popular mag types.
Get the “Magpul backpacker stock”, like @Badungus Kabungus mentioned! I bought that exact model (ie: not the model with the keymod hand guard) and I recently bought and installed the Backpacker stock. It’s really neat to have and use for compact storage as a “truck gun”, but also just to put it in a smaller bag for transport to the range. The fact that the backpacker stock can also store a 21rd magazine under the cheek riser is great. The Ruger PCC can take Glock 19 magazines too, so if you have a Glock 19 then you can use one type of mag and one caliber for two guns, which is really neat.

I own 2 Nagant Wheel guns, Yeah it's not fancy slav magic, it's ... some how we can do it cheaper and it comes out pretty good.

PSS are neat for sure. But yeah I'm sure somehow in their vodkafueld brain they were like.. hey we can cut a corner and it'll kinda work.

Aircraft Armaments Inc. was tasked with making a quiet gun for Tunnel Rats in the Vietnam War, they came up with the 10mm QSPR -- a shot-firing piston cartridge that they then stuffed into sawed-off Model 29s.

can you even actually hit anything with those? looking at it, i think it has side of barn MOA.
with shot, probably at fairly close distances. with actual bullets, probably yes. barrel length relates to velocity, not accuracy. higher velocities tend to offer less drop at range, but you aren't going for olympic targets with a pistol used for tunnel clearing.

I would imagine the terminal ballistics are underwhelming.
