It's also to teach them why some parts are private and others aren't necessarily in the same way, and the crucial difference between mamma wiping your butt because you can't even if you don't feel like it, and uncle forcing his hands into your butt in a different way, or the difference between jostling someone's arm and jostling someone's crotch. To respond to the other concern which it won't let me quote for some glitcho reason, yeah, a rose by any other name and all, and it's all void if you don't care enough to communicate more, but in general, "vagina" will be used in a safely clinical context and "coochie" in a less formal context which has a greater possibility to be sexual. That's the idea behind telling a three-year-old that his penis can make babies when he's an adult. Yes follow the principle, this is just a good general way to teach the principle.
