If April's charges get dropped then Nick no longer has to work to control her or Corner Demon her (as he did today) so hard, it makes things much easier for him if she has no incentive to flip. Nick has convinced April that the Warrant will get thrown out and so all of the charges will magically go away. If the Warrant isn't tossed and April's charges don't go away then it becomes increasingly more difficult for Nick to gaslight her and keep her under his thumb. He is desperate.
