He's running a ferret rescue. His fursona is also a ferret. I'm not sure if he's sheltering them at his place or if he has some as pets. But he has easy access to them since he often posts photos.

He will probably try to leverage his fanbase and streamer buddies to organize a PR campaign before resorting to hacker tactics.

And he is buddies with several other streamers and youtubers, some of whom are ex-silicon valley types. They could leverage their audiences and sv contacts if they have any. ThePrimeagen and Theo Browne already voiced their opinions on stopkillinggames. Their views are largely in line with Jason's.

He learned about the odd way the algorithm serves shorts to people. If uploaders un-check the "notify subscribers" box, youtube will prioritize serving their shorts to new, active users. Here's the video explaining this:

I'm a retard and don't know how to reply to long posts but @CaptainGarbage what you're saying doesn't surprise me, especially with Jason referring to programming as magic that programmers only understand half the time.
Also saw this short were he says his Second Life furry shop got him into Blizzard which seems doubtful to me with the nepotism allegations

+Quote the message, at the bottom click insert the message, click insert messages, and then replace everything with "this person said some shit". Do this iteratively as many times as you feel like responding to.

I would say he's not wrong, but he's just parroting what more knowledgeable people than him has said. That's all he really does, parrot things. From takes to code, all parroted. He's a parrot with bird ideas.
I will now quote the greatest programmer that has ever lived.

There is ZERO chance his second life garbage had any impact on him getting the job. If it wasn't blizzard and not being a nepobaby, the company would have looked at his furry trash example and hard passed him like fisherman looking at a dead fish on the side of the shore. Since it was blizzard and the timing of his hiring (after bliz became toxic furry slop) they probably said "I was already going to hire you nepobaby, you didn't need to say anything more, furry friend!" Disgusting, honestly.

Jason "Pirate Software Except Mine" Hall, does have a nice ring, doesn't it?
I doubt we need yet another Terry video on this website? 8)

Was that clip not visible on your end? It still works for me on the post you quoted.
I think it's a bug when replying or quoting, but I'm not sure.
Mald's lies are just as easy to hear in 360p as they are in full HD.
I'm trying to keep the highest quality local copy available in case all other sites get nuked.

Sticking with 4-5 vids per post. I'm not sure how many vids you can put in one post before it breaks.

720p 30fps
Twitch videos are often 60 fps which is only necessary for smooth gameplay footage, you can easily half that or turn it down to 24fps.

You can spoiler the videos if you are concerned with slowing down thread performance.
I think that also works with using quote on a post with many videos.

I agree that in terms of programming excellence(tm) the Heartbound codebase isn't the best but to keep discussion fair I feel the need to highlight why this might be the case. Thor believes that coding quality shouldn't stand in the way of you making a game because there are highly rated games out there with absolutely horrific code.
And to be completely honest I think he is right on this point. An indie game shouldn't be judged based on industry best practices, its a passion project someone barely pushed past the finish line. Yeah you can judge him for claims of being such an epic hacker proceeded by creating spaghetti but that shouldn't take away from the message about (indie) games not needing top notch coding.
(Yes I am aware that there are limits to not caring about your code, in the end your game still needs to compile run on an average system, looking at you mr Yanderedev.)

He is completely inexperienced in anything except frontend development, but will smugly bullshit his way regardless. I don't expect his opinions on game dev to be any different. Him, Primeagen and Mald are the primary examples of the "confident bullshiter" trend that has metastasized on YouTube.

Does he seriously believe in "Long Covid" sounds like some retarded Vaxxer BS lmao
If there's one thing the sexual alphabet is good for, is they'll push the party lie, as long as the party accomodates their perversion. It doesn't help that one of the alphabet's biggest problems is disease, gay men are notorious for engaging in risky behavior and immediately going to the doctor for more meds; if they think a pill can fix the problem, there's no need to change behavior. You want people who worship SCIENCE™ harder than every soy-filled manlet who lusts after Black Science Man, it's the gays and their love of medical science. A furry pushing the lie of long covid is as shocking as the sun rising.

CCP was never out to get him, he just advocated against his own interests then was surprised when he got just that. His entire plan was contingent on him being the glorious general who would fight the rest of the game, defend Povchen and his money making operation, but he got absolutely destroyed in every open battle.
Found this in the comment section of his video. Sounds like it lines up with your explanation but also mentions his group was turbo retarded and fought a war where they were super outnumbered and it heavily backfired, causing everyone to dogpile them after the war was over.

Judging by what I've heard of their Ashes of Creation plans, Jason plans to do the same thing by just having a high number of reddit-tier no skill retards join his organization to bully other groups into complicity. I expect this to backfire massively when they eventually piss off everyone and unite legions of autistic MMO spergs against him.

Bold of him to plan for a game that seems to be forever in early access scam phase like star citizen.

I believe we were discussing this in the last thread that there's some kind of recruitment / tier system Ashes uses where creators who recruit people using their URLS get money for it. So he was making money off redditors basically joining under him.

I was wondering what exactly he was going to earn. Ashes of Creation's website has a quote of "Get 15% of what you bring in with intrepid cash!" and "Get quarterly payouts through your Social Media Referrals.
1725503549492.png

Jason was quoted saying "I have over 12,000 referrals so It's going to be huge. Even more on the discord -". So I did some maths:
1725503680445.png

So, he's going to get $28,000 a month. So we have him getting rewarded with $86,400 every 3 months (Taxable income). That's $345,600+ a year if he can maintain his stranglehold on children and faggots with accounts in Ashes of Creation tied to Jason's referral code. The problem is AoC doesn't have Web3 Integration which means you'll have folks burdening the developers to "Bring my favorite vanity item to Ashes". In 3 years time if he holds out it will be over a million dollars.

So I went ahead and googled:
"Ashes of Creation Guild to Counter Pirate Software" and found a ton of people on reddit basically gearing up, sharing their referral codes with each other and basically farming from a more mature pool of players from ESO to Eve to WoW to Runescape to Fallout79. All in the name of "Content" and "Hurting this faggots bottom line". Which I am 1000% for.

Do not use placeholders because QA will report them as bugs even if you're early on in development. If you then say "we're using placeholders early on, please don't report that as a bug", QA will do a heckin' r/maliciouscompliance and not report the placeholders even when getting closer to release.

This video seems particularly catty behavior and off-smelling advice, even to the average viewer. Surely this one specific scenario with loading screens doesn't mean all placeholder assets are a bad idea.

It seems we also have some comments with similar thoughts:

Screenshot 2024-09-04 at 23-32-07 Placeholders - YouTube.pngScreenshot 2024-09-04 at 23-32-20 Placeholders - YouTube.pngScreenshot 2024-09-04 at 23-33-11 Placeholders - YouTube.pngScreenshot 2024-09-04 at 23-33-57 Placeholders - YouTube.pngScreenshot 2024-09-04 at 23-36-58 Placeholders - YouTube.png

If zaferoph here is correct and there's context immediately after which says "use a simple placeholder which can't be mistaken for production", it's be nice to include it in the actual short. It's only 47 seconds long, you've got some time to work with.

Yep, Jason was not very smart when it came to EVE. He vastly overestimated the force multiplier value of having defensive citadel structures in Povchen. While they can provide a smaller fleet the means to defend itself against a larger attack, the people Jason made enemies with brought 10x his numbers. Even if he was a good FC (he wasnt) there really isnt much you can do against that.

Its the reason why smaller wormhole based corps will do absolutely everything in their power to keep a low profile and not make noise that attracts attention. You can defend against a similar-ish sized wormhole corp but if Hard Knocks decide to evict you from the wormhole you pretty much can't do anything about it.

Not only that, but Jason was a habitual backstabber and shittalker. He may have been able to secure assistance from other Povchen-based corps to defend his shit if it werent for the fact that he had an overinflated ego and shittalked his neighbors. So when FRAT came to push Striborg out of Povchen, nobody was willing to defend them.

So is this "20 years of gamedev experience" fag suggesting to hold development until all assets are ready? No wonder his shitty game takes so long to release.

Also, I call bullshit on this story. Give me the name of this game, faggot.

It seems he's saying not to use any placeholders that could conceivably be let into production, but it doesn't get across because he's either purposefully or accidentally saying it in an incredibly obtuse way.
Give me the name of this game, faggot.
He does say it's StarCraft 2, I'm curious if this bug of shipping placeholder interstitial screens is corroborated anywhere else. A few quick searches from me aren't finding it.

Unless these lights move around maybe I'm pretty sure these are prebaked. I saw a short of his on it, where it was basically just a section of gamma / brightness boost, boosting the floor, and character walking into it. So not ray tracing, just basically a gamma boost sprite for light sources, and a deboost sprite for shadows on like people.

For a good benchmark of ACTUAL dynamic lights in a 2d game, intravenous is a very good example.
-line of sight has a slight light effect, based on what physically in the players line of sight. (purely aesthetic of course)
-Light from bulbs propagates more if a door is open to allow the light out, and the light updates in realtime. (light also effects stealth)
-despite being 2d, theres 3d effects, like overhead bulbs casting a shadow longer and longer the further away you are from the bulb.

You can see the lighting here is on another level, actually deserving the title of "dynamic lighting"

So yeah, I haven't played jasons game, but the most im seeing is "see?! we have lights! therefor its dynamic and raytraced!!" but it seems little more than sprite based, similar to how rimworld does it.

This is either a decent take, or deeply disingenuous, and it hinges on a single question: Can you list your game for $50 on Steam while listing it for $30 on Epic (or $30 on Xbox)?

If you can do that then fine. But if you can't then his talking about steam keys is disingenuous dodging of the actual anti-competitive behavior of Steam by diverting into a separate issue entirely.
