I think what's most interesting to me on this anniversary is that Eron never took down The Zoe Post. You can still read it in its entirety, images and all, and see just how much of a skank whore Blowy Zoe was and still is.

I'm not really filled with nostalgia for that time, I didn't really participate beyond reading info that others dug up, but it was certainly an eye-opening event for me for many reasons. The increasingly overt politicization of gaming, the seething hatred that leftists had for people who just wanted to have fun, the power of unbridled autism at work...and all of that is still true ten years later, for better or worse. GG got me away from 4chan before it became complete shit (fuck you moot, you faggot), and it would eventually lead me to the farms to laugh at all the dumbfucks from back then and many more. It was an autistic slapfight on both sides, but considering how it's still living rent-free in the heads of those who hated it and blame it for everything bad that's happened to them since then, I'd say GG won in the long run.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get some Five Guys.

It dropped 10 years ago as of tomorrow. 08/17/2014.
I imagine the actual anniversary op-eds will likely come out more around Labor Day weekend, since that's the weekend the Gamers are Dead articles came out and everyone hopped onto Baldwin's hashtag to discuss them.

The biggest piece of evidence for how dishonest/lazy journalists are lies in the fact that they are STILL claiming that it started when Eron lied in that blog post by claiming Zoe traded sex for reviews.

He never once mentioned any reviews or journalists, the famous post is just a click away, yet journos will still bang out a false summary of a blog post they can't take 5 minutes to read. They don't care, they're repeating what other journos wrote and assuming that SURELY if the New York Times and 10 other outlets report the same thing then it must be solid. At this point, I reckon many people are embarrassed by being anti-GG after it came out that not only was Eron able to prove a lot of stuff in the Zoe Post, plus Alec's death, but also the fact that it turned out Zoe was a failure who couldn't do anything unless someone else was doing it for her, like the book 'she' wrote, or the UN address that Anita did for her.

You still have some die hard simps, and others who made their career by being part of either side of GG, but most people I doubt give a shit or would even remember unless someone else pointed it out. Hell, the only reason I know is because I scrolled through this section of the forum, saw there was a new post in this thread and went to see what was up.

The ultimate issue is that shitlords were successfully able to get some advertisers to drop Kotaku and other gaming sites that resulted in the shutdown of a couple sites and the firing of a few cunts. The official narrative was “lol misogynerds” until said misogynerds started fucking with their money; at that point it took on the conspiratorial tone that applies today. They’ll leave that part out on retrospectives because they don’t want to give the impression that pressuring advertisers can work both ways.
