i met the person i'm dating now on duolicious. my co-worker/friend came to me to talk about it's existence and encouraged me to make a profile so he could see the users (he's married but got the OK to make a profile from wife, then subsequently got banned for some "slur" he put in his profile). i thought it would be funny so i did, and then this fucking person started talking to me about woodworking and we've been seeing each other (yes in real life) since late May.
i still peruse the site to steal memes and shit, it's a shitshow and if you sign up with any real info you're a retard but, hey, i actually managed to find someone. we'll see how it ends up.

Isn't the site like.. months old? Honestly the entire concept is just alien to me. What is the target audience? 4chan users, who dont use adblock? Not like "Oh here's a new app for us!", but literal ads? Paid for and made by an external party?

I've been lurking on KF for the past two years and have recently made an account.
Though this thread has gained my recent interest it was definitely not why I made the account.

That being said I'd like to take a crack at an encompassing review of Duolicious having been a former power user of Tinder, Bumble, and Facebook Dating where I met my wife by lightning in a bottle dumb luck.

This is actually a very well designed app in terms of user experience.

Spoiler: Retrospective on Tinder

When apps like tinder came out, swiping became the main new mechanism for matchmaking space and has endured since.
It created a great dopamine buzz for the zoomers with a simple yes-no matching system and kept it simple rather than elaborate with the dating profile.
You could self-determine who would show up in your queue only by setting age and distance limiters, keeping users locked in with FOMO. "If you're not swiping, you're denying yourself that great date/lay just around the corner"
Bumble and other derivatives would add layers of filters only to the extent that it made people feel like they were wasting less time swiping with randoms but still retain massive FOMO

With Duolicious you waste significantly less time to randomness.
By asking a mixture of benign, short, and meaningful questions you give people an array of openings and topics for discussion.



Instead of feeling like you're potentially missing out at any given moment, you can blow through 200 questions and be presented with what essentially be your match list for a set of distances, ages, and misc. filters.



The app even lets you compare answers to questions so you can weigh your options with people.



While you can dox yourself, you don't have to. Not to the site, or to any other third parties.

In short and in terms of user-experience, it is significantly more to the point than most dating apps.

Is there a ton of dudes? Absolutely
Are there hot NEET singles in your area? Probably not.
But will you find nichely informed internet people to sort through for IRL friends and dates? More likely than any other dating app.

In terms of women using the app to find men, I think it provides a good blend of filtering systems:

• Anyone who wants to try chatting with you needs to at least share 50% of your Q&A answers
• You can sort your messages by match % or latest.
• You can prematurely remove someone from your match listings.
• You need to respond to a message for people to follow up.
• People can only send you an opener once, if you're sending the second "Hiiiii" you're SOL.

Men will likely experience a similar crapshoot to other dating apps if utilized solely in the traditional context.
That being said it's definitely possible to meet other interesting people to spend your time with if you don't have a life.

And while I was banned for saying I was part of the racist club and that I was racist in my profile, in hindsight my fellow feeders, it is likely makes the platform better for yourselves as people unable to hide their power-levels probably aren't worth your time either.

@CoolFool is correct though there are definitely spergs and kids on the app, it stirs me to think honor-killing has merit.
Duolicious is only useful to meet people IRL. If you don't want to meet people obviously stick to the farms for a better use of your time.

With regard to it being the 4chan dating app, I don't have enough experience with 4chan to make an assessment.
If I were to put it another way: At a glance I never found 4chan lurking to be worth my time and if most of these people truly are from 4chan, it makes sense since they're overwhelmingly not worth my time either.
However, when framed as a tool to meet people who have a niche knowledge of things and aren't out-of-touch boomers. It has value as an app rather than a community when filtering out people appropriately.

According to this reddit post's edit, the dev was able to get enough donations for another 1.5 months of time via Kofi and/or Paypal donations. So it's not dead yet, but it's circling the drain.

That's sad. I don't mean to say that it's the best website on the earth, but it's better than many other dating apps and services, oddly enough, most of them are owned by the same company that owns OkCupid.

This is actually a very well designed app in terms of user experience.

It's genuinely nuts how easy it is to make an app that is 50 times better than Tinder, but every single hard requirement is paywalled and even then it serves little use cause so few people fill in their profile. I can't remember the app, but one of them had a bunch of questions basically just going "night out or night in? up early or late? family or adventure?". You basically cut half the profiles away and leave the ones remaining somewhat interesting.

I too have met surprisingly sane and worthwhile people on dating apps in those 30 mins a year they give in and make a profile, as well as not living in the US, they're not entirely a waste of time, but often you can almost tell when it stops finding reasonable options for you and just start showering you in basic bitch Stacy profils with an instagram in their bio. Happn (?) got this one-off game where you can guess between 4 profiles to find the one who liked you, and 99% of the time it's immediately apparent cause you can tell when it starts filling in people who aren't within your target group. Like that "find the main character" anime meme.

The more niche an app, the more worthwhile it is. There was this one "gamer" app which had a decent amount of anime/game centric metrics, and if you ignore the 90% vtubers grifting for poly relationships, you found mostly "nerdy gamer" types, so every single profile was somewhat interesting. If they weren't an aspiring twitch/OF thot, they had a unique story of games to talk about. A chick who looks somewhat normal and plays theHunter? Aight cuh bet etc. Compare that to a 8/10 on Tinder with two pics and no profile text, it's obvious which you'd rather talk to.

Hence, this app, I assume. If they still use 4chan in this day and age where even reddit is as toxic as 4chan was ten years ago, there has to be something under the surface. But then you remember that some people use 4chan solely to post dick pics on /soc/ or fucking.. the traveling board? But nonetheless you got that 4chan degeneracy in common. Which begs the question: What kind of woman would use a 4chan dating app? Troons, mostly, but I guess that's the target group for most 4chan guys so.

have not used it , but the site devs have (or had) a twitter account where they routinely mock their users as “chuds” and publicly insult them and brag about banning them. They sound like a bunch of ridiculous discord troons with nothing but contempt for 4channers, which is understandable. but also weird when that’s your core demographic /audience you’re pandering to/selling your product to.

Small update to the British girl i've been talking through thanks to this app. Been getting her into grand strategy games, We played Project Zomboid, No More Room in Hell, Baldurs Gate 3, Crusader Kings 2, Tekken 8, Jackbox. All in all very fun. Things were a bit awkward at first, because we are both pretty introverted, but all that went away when we played No More Room in Hell together. There was a Sri Lankan guy in our lobby who mentioned femboys, she called him a faggot and then kept telling me "call him brown! call him brown! Tell him he's a shitskin!". There were a lot of other more based things she said that i don't want to mention here, but after that we got much closer. Thinking of getting a plane ticket and meeting up in the near future.

Could be related to distance. If you don't set a maximum distance sure you'll get loads of women, but then you have to deal with LDR shit. When I used the app I set my max distance to 150 miles which is pushing it imo and got a literal single digit number of accounts, of which a few were completely blank useless profiles.
