gold DDR is 64-bit, and bad players blame their timing issues on 32-bit data.
Is there actual legitimacy for this claim or are they just talking out of their ass?

I know that shit has happened before when Konami went from System 573 to Python 2 when SuperNova came out, but has there always been timing issues with the newer ones as well?

Personally I always thought the steps in the arcade games (specifically DDRExtreme and below) always came up sooner than the beat of the music (although lately I've been playing them on MAME, I wind up getting more B's and A's than AA's), even in the home versions I had to adjust the timing to like +/- 2 or more depending on what TV I hooked the PS2 to.

The software applies its own pre-determined offsets based off of cabinet type, but it's the same on all cabinets, AND there's tools and patches to apply your own values. so probably placebo or disinformation somewhere.

I finished reading the thread from the start, here are some of my thoughts that nobody gives a shit about:

1. The World update kinda fucked up my system for finding songs. I used to be able to find them by my score, and they were sorted from highest score to lowest within their bracket. I had their order mostly memorized in my fucked up freak system. Now they're sorted alphabetically. I still haven't gotten used to it. I do enjoy the 0.05x increments though, and shrinking the videos was kinda helpful but I sorta liked watching some of them while I played

2. Dancerush is great. I've been using it to teach myself how to shuffle from literally 0. I went from bumbling retard to humble beginner in 1 year of playing on and off

3. I tried out StepManiaX and really tried to like it, but it just kinda feels like shit? I'm not sure how to describe it, the stage feels weird, the lights are way too bright and fucking strobe effects blind me, the songlist is whatever, and the charts don't feel interesting. When comparing it to DDR or ITG or even Pump I find it very lacking. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance or I'm just expecting it to be something it isn't. Idk if anyone else here has a cabinet around them yet

4. Here's a crossover for everyone to enjoy: During Sam Hyde's first season of Fishtank, one of the contestants, Josie, mentioned that she played DDR. Sam made small talk about it, asking why she played, how she got into it, and who the top player was. Josie namedropped Chris Chike and Sam loved it, he found the name very silly. He'd be saying "Chike it up" for months afterwards in response to anything. I heard from a friend last year that Chris learned about this and he REALLY didn't like his name being used like that. Well too bad, Sam even made a shirt out of it. I should have bought this bastard back then. Stupid me

is DDR even popular with women? Every arcade I've ever been to, the guys always outnumbered them 10 to 1
I don't think there's a single woman regular at my R1 for DDR, same for Dancerush. Maybe they all go on the days I don't but all the girls I see regularly play Pump or Project Diva

I can't believe I find out that we have a rhythm game general because a retarded tranny that likes to swipe security dongles made the community happenings. And I'm somehow lucky enough to have avoided the insane tranny drama that goes on in SoCal

Tbf not a whole lot goes on to begin with...publically. The RGC community as a whole leans radical progressive so none of them would ever fathom posting here, and most drama is either super area-dependent or heavily gatekept behind private accounts and servers so unless you've found a way to infiltrate them or got lucky enough to get inside before the gates closed, the closest you'll get outside of this stuff leaking is he said/she said slapfights on public Twitter, a ghost town of the rhythm game thread on /jp/, or dumb boomer takes on /r/DanceDanceRevolution.

Ever since the Indo VPN cab/KAC drama Chris has also learned to stfu and hasn't come out of the woods lately except for some ITG stuff and this dick-sucking article (archive).

>He began earning endorsement deals, and was profiled in several mainstream news publications, telling the New York Times he wanted to buy a multi-thousand dollar DDR arcade cabinet. (“We’re learning to pay for things when we have the money,” his mom, who reportedly managed those deals, told the outlet.)
>“We’re learning to pay for things when we have the money,”

That HEAVILY implies that they are impulsive with their money and will just spend it like water, and it wasn't until their son said "I want this expensive-as-fuck thing" that they went "you know what, maybe we should plan a budget!". Sounds like it was either during or after high school because the next paragraph talks about college.

Forget Chris, I wanna know more about this family, they're probably why he is the way he is today.

>“Whenever you meet someone who plays DDR, you kind of don't really care that much what they're doing outside of the game, right?”
yea, fuck making new friends and socializing and shit, that's fucking gay. DDR is the only acceptable topic of discussion! /sarcasm

>In a video of the game, he is leaning back against the railing, his black Nikes moving from one arrow to another so fast it looks like he's floating above the pad.
<BAR RAPING
L-O-FUCKING-L

>At the onset of the pandemic, Chike got laid off from his tech job. He describes it as a blessing in disguise. “I was, like, I get to quit and have severance at the same time — it was almost a win-win, ‘cause I was already a little bit checked out,” he said.
Imagine thinking getting laid off from your job is a GOOD thing all because you want to play more of the dance game. I'd expect that kind of logic from a 10 year old, but not from a grown-ass adult.

>“This is the best that anyone in the human race could possibly achieve at this thing,” Clark told Gazetteer.
Some rando-Japan/Asia player - "Hold My Saki!"

It's really sad because DDR as an e-sport is arguably the worst e-sport - quite literally the biggest barrier to entry humanly possible - a $400 controller (to start with) and a physical requirement and virtually 0 tournament scene.

If Chris4Lyfe isn't/wasn't fully pro (aka still had a day job) - then quite literally no one is. It's a pro scene with literally 0 pros.

Even when there were tournaments, they weren't interesting at all. It was a fun day where everyone got together and hung out, where we pretended like we cared about a bunch of smug nerds stomping away to Sobakasu Freckles over and over.

What am I, what am I, what-what-what UH! What am I gonna do, when I can not get through, t'all these faggot retards in my life? It's just a waste of my time, and there's no finishing li-ine

I'm really glad this shit lead to at least a troon looking awful in the rythem game community. I like DDR likes (I use stepmania) but honestly the community seems like its infested with gays.

NGL, I'd love something like the kiwi farms doom mapping project, but for step-mania / ddr or the like (most of the song formats are transferable anyway)

Shit like MATI song, maybe some meme AI songs...I could see amazing stuff coming from it, but idk if theres enough people interested to actually make that happen, especially since its a little less accessible compared to doom (you need a dance pad)

Then again, its MUCH easier to throw together some charts than make a doom level I figure, unless someones fucking retard and makes the cursed ass "keyboard only" charts

I'd like that, but (as you also stated) idk if the interest for that would be big.

Although the level curve to learn how to make stepfiles is pretty low, anyone can do it as long as they understand beat/note timing and measurements (1/4, 1/8, 1/12, 1/16, etc..) and finding the correct BPM.

There was a thread that was made not too long ago in the music section of the forum regarding kiwi artists making a KF album. You can probably hit up one (or more) of them to see if they would want to contribute.

For the record I can do BOTH make stepfile and make original music.

I'd wager any location in Cali or NYC proper.
I don’t know if it’s still open, but I went to the Puente Hills Mall location on a random Saturday before COVID and it was surprisingly normal. Wouldn’t catch me dead in NYC. A few years back, I visited the Grapevine Mills Mall location in Texas since I was nearby for a work convention and there were troons and bad cosplayers galore.
