At least, until Kayla feels that she can get easy money and comfort from somewhere else. Kayla seems to consistently put herself first while following the path of least resistance, while even making it easier for her own children to succeed in life is a much lower priority (if at all).

It's easier for Kayla to just hope that her kids do better than her and Nick did than to actually try and give her kids a better environment to grow up in (you know, not a trash-heap coke house frequented by sexual partners). To put it another way, Kayla modelling such bad behavior and then emotionally telling her kids "these are the consequences of our actions" is a lot easier for her than actually trying to provide a stable environment (or even course-correct after the fact).

Kayla would likely require either complete comfort or an imminent threat to said comfort to divorce Nick. After all, it isn't like they actually love each other anymore. I think you are misunderstanding what is happening in the Aaron RP case.
They currently have a Settlement Conference scheduled, which means they think they can get to a settlement before a trial.
They will now negotiate what it exactly contains, then have the conference in December to announce the results (if any) and have a last discussion and then either Aaron takes it or not.

And let's be real here, Aaron would be an idiot to eat the felony charge. There is only a realistic chance that he takes a plea if the felony is dropped. (Which it should be)
