1. the game looks crap
2. his stream is currently printing money (seriously, he made like 500k+ breaking the sub train record twice a few months ago). His stream averages over 10k viewers, which equates to millions of dollars a year if monetized correctly.

Which would you devote more resources to if you were in his position? The game that won't earn you much, or the stream that will allow you and the pooner to retire in a year or two?
So he's basically doing what Yandere Dev wanted to do.
The question is how long until it crumbles on him just like Dev?

Bold of you to assume he is good with managing money and isn't going to blow it all on furry shit and lavish goods.

I think I would pay someone to make game that helped me start this grift. It's not like with this kind of money he earns it will hurt him financially to hire 1-2 programmers to "help him"(actually do all the work, while he reaps all the benefits).
Leaving Heartbound unfinished is risk for his grift.

If yandere dev actually stick with tinybuid, and just kept on sucking money from patreon, he wouldn't be in position he is today.
Just finish what you promised, most won't care about the details.

The big play would be to grift harder.
Finish it and then go "Now its time for the real game."
Promise something grand and visionary, but only if you can raise the funds!
So put a dollar in the box!

Its evil, but it would work.

The cracks are slowly starting to form due to him shooting to popularity by exploiting the shorts algorithm, but it's gonna be a while. There's still a lot of goodwill to burn, and there is a higher percentage of retards who take what he says as gospel in his audience.

But at the same time, the audience that is burned and forming a hatedom doesn’t go away, they’ll always be there, watching out of malice.

It took years for RoosterTeeth to crash and burn, but when it finally did, it was me and several other people watching the trash fire all the way to the end.

Yes, but "crumbling" doesn't necessarily mean the shutdown of a YouTube channel or completely leaving the Internet. I think @Bob Barbas meant his fame turning into infamy, a la DSP, Ralph etc.

He would have to hire devs who are competent enough to untangle his spaghetti and professional enough to not spill how much of a mess it was to make his game
But at the same time i think his ego revolves around being a solo dev so i doubt he would ever stoop so low as to hire people to finish his game.
His game is not a goal, its yet another prop for him to stand on so he can nurture more of his ego

But at the same time i think his ego revolves around being a solo dev so i doubt he would be humble enough to hire people to finish his game.
FTFY
I agree with rest, but I strongly dislike the wording of it being stooping low. It could probably be the biggest display of accountability to his backers.
I personally would be impressed. But that will be too much ask for a nepobaby.

At least buy the colorblind dinner first.

I wouldn't be surprised if every aspect of Heartbound is coded from the ground up from 0 every time, instead of engineering different reusable systems.
I see this type of thing often enough that I wanna say something about it.

It's completely fine to use a pre-made function from a game engine, hell, ANY engine of code origin, rather than making it from scratch. There's usually no benefit to going the self-made route unless you're a turbo-autist obsessed with optimization (which Mald obviously is not despite his claims.) Chances are the pre-made method works just fine and you're wasting your damn time. No one will shame you for cutting corners unless you cut corners 8 years in the development of Not Undertale.

Considering he already blew a lot on his piss sanctuary with suicidal ferrets and hired 11 full-time jannies with an insurance package. I'd say he is already on track to buy more stupid shit. (Of course none will go to getting his game finished).

If the game is delayed forever or stuck in permanent early access, the paypigs won't get angry and demand to know where all the money went.

I doubt it matters that much. Anyone still paypigging after he spent most of a decade making a 3 hour long Undertale clone walking simulator probably isn't going to change based on the game. Jason could probably come out and say he was never going to finish it and the whole thing's a scam and they'd still go on about how smart and nice and cool he totally is so long as he can keep roleplaying his hacker person and acting smug on stream.

Was gonna say, I think he gets more of his clout being a wholesome big chungus type guy, than a videogame programmer. Damn near every short and thing I've seen of him; outside of his "I was at blizz, I'm offensive, I molested powerplants" schtick, outside of that, everything I see is people seeing him as some sort of wholesome mentor type. He has his resume short down pat, but damn near everything else is "Let me explain to you, now here's how you get motivation, now go make games." If he was born a decade or two earlier, I'd see him being one of those motivational speakers who you pay to hear talk and get you to buy his book. If he wasn't a tubby gremlin and took care of himself, he would've been a PUA in an alternate life.

If he was born religious he would've been one of those megachurch retards
he has a skill in very carefuly mediating and curating his image

And speaking authoritatively on things he doesn't even understand and also ducking his own cock all the time, and both of these things greatly impress retards.
