Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Mandolarians were better as a sort of nebulous warrior society/cult. The more you try to explore Mando society, the more it becomes stupid and gay because not only does it ruin the mystique but the whole thing doesn't make sense and is completely unsustainable, because its just to fill a narrative niche not actually integrate into a functional logical world.

Mandos would work better as a sort of corruption on chivalry or even bushido, where there is a common Warriors Code and society based on mutual interaction, but each member is more of a member of the society they are in than strictly a Mandolarian.
It almost feels like Star Wars writers wanted to explore the Mandolarian culture much Star Trek did for the Klingons in TNG and DS9.

Mandalorians in KOTOR = good.

Mandalorian lore outside of KOTOR = incredibly boring. Don't care about their stupid made up language or culture or anything else. Make them go away.
They were kino in Legacy, mostly because Legacy ignores the rest of the "Legacy" Era. It's a shame the second run got ended by the Disney acquisition before we could see more of them. Jango Fett: Open Season's portrayal is pretty good too, but it goes more into the factionalism than the culture, which is a good avenue that pretty much nobody outside of SWTOR took.

Basically if you want good Mandalorians, they have to be written by Ostrander, John Jackson Miller (who now gets spat on by Filoni for a living), or Karpyshyn.

"They will die a death that will last millennia, until all that remains is their code, their history, and in the end, the shell of their armor upon the shell of a man, too easily slain by Jedi."

Nothing in Star Wars pretty much makes sense, but the basic idea of the Mandos in the Clone Wars era being remnants of a borderline dead culture and Jango Fett patterning the clones on them as a last, desperate attempt at preserving something wasn't a bad idea. A scattering of Mandos being forced to be hired guns because they're a failed warrior society isn't impossible to maintain even in the Empire era. God knows what happened to them under Disney Wars, can't even be bothered to check. As usual, the more you explain....

I mean when you have an entire Mandolorian "homeworld". Mandolorian Supercommandos as wandering bands of Ronin/Landsknecht would work, but an entire planet of "warriors" just doesn't make sense the more you dig into it. that makes Jango/Boba just a lone member doing bounty work (and possibly makes him even cooler because he's not just a super cool elite warrior guy, he's been kicked out so he's an OUTCAST which is totally awesome)

Sorry, the only "ronin" in this universe is Ahsoka Tano.

I still have to read the Thrawn trilogy. I've been putting it off for a long time since its one of those trilogies I want to be one of my final joys about this dead goliath IP. I'm not expecting it to blow my socks off but I am expecting a solid story that blows what the hack Dave Filoni has done. I expect it to blow post 2008 star wars away. Hopefully.

EU lore question for a second, anyone know when the shield generator were described and how and where they're placed on planets like Coruscant and Alderaan?

Mandalorians were originally from Coruscant and were an alien race. They later adopted humans and other species that became mandalorians culturally. They were never confined to a single planet. In fact before their mercenary ways, their easiest comparison to real world history would be the Mongols. (Combined with Spartans and Amazons)

The Mandalorain crusades were really the the conquests of the Golden Horde, but in spehss. After their defeats and subsequent decline, they become an ethnicity of condottieros who maintain their truncated culture via language and equipment.

Karen Traviss' expansion on Mandalorian culture was fine as she didn't really retcon anything. The issue with mandos really has always been the autistic fan base.

Still infinitely better than the Mandalorian depiction in the TCW show. 1000287841.jpg

Coruscant had something like a trillion people living on it, how does it become abandoned so fast? Every ship in the galaxy would need to used to get everyone off world. Like everything Disney Star Wars, it's retarded.
The underground criminal empire would literally prosper and likely move business above ground and severe changes would occur to the structure of Coruscant if they're gonna say it was abandoned. Make it to where surface dwellers get off the planet since they have the funds to do so, while many also stay behind and resort to crime and holy shit just make this IP public domain I will literally write a better story for FREE. Disney never pulls cool shit like pre-2008 star wars used to. They have no balls. The one time it is kind of cool its severely limited (Andor). A literal 12 year old fan versed in the lore could write cooler more enthralling shit than these joyless and soulless hacks.

Coruscant wasn't even totally depopulated when the Yuuzhan Vong started terraforming it with eldritch monsters and pulverized the moon so they could give it rings.

Another issue besides Disney's retardation is the general problem sci-fi has with scale. If you watch some Isaac Arthur videos on youtube and you'll realize that 25,000 Star Destroyers makes more sense as a system defense force, not a galaxy spanning fleet. That would explain why they think Coruscant could be abandoned in a few years because they think there's only a million people there.
