I am Aussie (assuming you are too, can't think of many other countries that force it) and no it sucks. I don't give a shit, the duo-party wins and pushes censorious communist shit both ways, and I'm forced to give a shit or receive a fine, that's basically compelled speech.
You can put in a blank vote or just leave after getting your named signed off. It's no 'compelled speech'. I agree about the censorious approach they take being a problem. Regardless having like a 1/3 of population vote is crazy low and is one of the reasons American is a much less democratic country than most others. Back to Trump I wonder how meandery his inauguration speech will be

Mandatory voting is fucking retarded.
I suspect that less antagonism and less attack ads would do more to increase voter turnout than mandatory voting, Kamala had social media attack dogs on lock but IRL it's MAGA who were stealing the show. I drove past more NoMoreBullshit billboards this year than I think I ever have, and I certainly don't live in a red state.
I don't see the electoral college or the two party system going away anytime soon. Certainly not in my lifetime.
People feeling less like "thuh battul for 'Merica's soul! Our future hangs in the balance!" every 4 years would help keep people from checking out.

I've never understood how Americans think they care about freedom but do everything they can to stamp out universal sufferage
Because, outside of Ancient Greece and Rome, suffrage for an entire modern country wasn't really a thing, and if it was, there was always a nobility to fall back on, it's why it's called the American Experiment. That's why it started out as white landowning men picking another group of white land owning men to actually make the choice to pick the president. And the president wasn't even supposed to do much. No one wanted another George III or Charles I and they tried to put enough shit in the way of that so it didn't happen.

Suffrage has continually increased since inception, but slowly, because things were designed to move slow, so there's still 3 centuries of backlog to work through.

I don't know why we are so early to call in the election. The mail in ballots haven't been counted yet as far as I see and none of the swing states are called, so it'll still go either way.

Anyone who thought Kamala or Trump would win in a landslide is fucking retarded. Especially when both candidates are utter mindless zogbots, especially with trump.

I have accurately predicted the election would be close. Sure, I gave Kamala a 60/40 advantage, but I already gave trump an ample chance of winning. This is due to this election hinging on how much they are willing to vote for Kamala to spite trump.

No candidate is appealing to normies.

I'm just shocked how low American voter turn out is overall, only a third of the county actually votes for the President, so its normally 16-18% of the population that decide whose in charge. Mandatory voting could really improve things.
low turnout is important though. It signals that there is actually an issue. If you win the election in race where only 20% of the potential voters vote it states "80% of the country does not think you are worth voting for or that you will not be effectual." Think about what that says about how the country thinks about you. You need to change your policies or there might be an issue.

Same. Can go either way and no matter who wins at this point, it was not by a landslide. Turns out all the predictions were pretty much on point. Somehow I also feel we're in recount country now. (EDIT: ok, maybe not)

Also anyone who thinks Trump will do anything positve of lasting consequence hasn't paid attention the first round. That guy doesn't care about America. Trump first and foremost cares about Trump.

Wild animals have special needs that are difficult to impossible to accommodate for the average person, so unless you're fine with animal abuse and suffering, you should support restrictions on what animals a person can keep at home.
Bit of mean of you to call wild animals retarded bro

Righties are gonna try and soak up the liberal tears soon but it’s not gonna hit the same as 2016. There won’t be any screaming SJW lady or late-night hosts throwing tantrums. Everyone is too aware of 2016 for that to ever happen again.
There are going to be some screaming SJW's and leftists crying out for Kamala, but most of the other leftists would literally say that Kamala deserves the loss for literally cucking to Israel.

Most normies are very well aware of how shitty both candidates were.
