Furry Fandom and Drama General

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t hearthfox an actual dogfucker?
We don't have a full confirmation, but there was a massive slap-fight Hearth kicked up last year over defending dogfucking content (that sadly doesn't seem to have been documented well). I mentioned it briefly in the OP for the Lumin City thread because Lumin made a video where he flat-out lied about the drama.

Quick version of what happened from what I remember: HearthFox took a dancing puppet she made to Anthrocon 2023, and it got a lot of positive attention and Twitter attention for her. At some point after the convention, furry commentator LagoVirt tweeted a joke that someone was going to eventually cancel the puppet.

Three days later, we got Hearth having this exchange with some Twitter rando where she says she doesn't see a problem with dogfucking artwork because it's just art and they're not hurting real animals:

Hearth then decides that all the pushback they're getting is solely because of Lago's joke he tweeted three days earlier, so Hearth starts using her Twitter followers as a personal army to harass Lago. A lot of this wasn't properly archived at the time, but I believe it ended with Lago throwing out a quick apology just to get Hearth to fuck off.

So do hawks and owls, but no one is hating on them them. Coyotes as far wildlife goes are badass. Man tries to eliminate them but cant.
Just keep lil shit dog and kitty inside at night. Problem solved.
Hawks and owls are just cooler than coyotes (sorry yote bros) and honestly when was the last time you heard of someone's cat being snatched by an owl? They also don't pose a real risk to humans since they aren't pack animals.

A great horned owl is capable, and seen enough of them. Not ruling it out.
My most recent adopted kitty was snatched and dropped by a hawk as a kitten, she had bad lacerations on her belly. She barely survived and to this day wont allow anyone to pick her up because of the trauma.

Hawks and owls tend to not push very far into human settlements in the same way that coyotes do. Coyotes live deep into cities and also tend to attack livestock and people when the packs get big enough. And that's not even me hating on them. It's actually incredible how effective of an animal they are and how well they do living within our cities. They are one of those animals that wouldn't do half as well as they currently are if they weren't inadvertently being hard carried by humanity providing them so much food, like we also do with rats or racoons, due to how much time they spend close to humans. That is a big part of what makes them be viewed as pests. It's the same reason why a lot of people in Canada are starting to view black bears as pests. They are too willing to hang out around people and our settlements and as such they cause problems for us. Qualifying as a pest really has to do with the frequency of the problem for a given population, not the binary existence of it happening in general. Animals that managed to live within our concrete ecosystems tend to bump up that frequency and get labeled pests, those that don't get spared in the common perception.

That said, birds of prey are considered pests by basically every farmer if they keep something small enough to be snatched by them. They go after their smaller animals frequently, especially fowl. Part of the natural selection for barn cats is being able to survive the local birds of prey. Owls tend to not be too big of an issue, they don't really like going after things that don't favour freezing to avoid their predators meaning they are more likely to pick off the local rodents rather than your cat or flock of fowl, but hawks and falcons are quite willing. Owls do like to kill cats on occasion to remove competition however, but only if they get a really good opportunity.

A bit of humor.

A fellow on the Twitters made a jibe about one of Kyell Gold's old books.

I hadn't thought about that 'furry gay muslim' book in a while, so I went looking at that old Slate article.

Uhhuh, uhhuh, that sounds like a Furry name, that does. So let's have a look...

...oh.

A little bit of a lolcow singularity going on with this... Queen Sciggles donated $1k to this, when it was already at least double its goal at the time.

You may remember Sciggles was constantly begging for money before Dragoneer died and people gave her a quarter of a million dollars to "keep FA online". Now she can throw $1,000 at a Gofundme that's already quite over its goal, and there's no say of what happens to the money not spent on getting a lawyer to write a boilerplate DMCA counter notification (which was, apparently, $1000.)

Grifters donating to grifters donating to grifters donating to grifters....

Wow, good find.

Don't coyotes eat small dogs and cats? They're a hated pest for a reason.
Coyotes also trick dogs into thinking they are their friends. Sounds familiar...
HearthFox posted a comic saying it's okay to murder Trump supporters and/or Nick Fuentes, which seems like a completely sane and rational thing to draw, let alone publicly post online.
If they want to go down that route they have to sign a waiver that they won't start crying for the fight to stop when people start killing them back in greater numbers. There's a reason these people are often unwilling to go this far despite all the incitement they spout. They can't handle the consequences of violence.

Looks like the great furry Exodus ™️ to Bluesky has begun (again, for the third time).

How long before they come back crawling lol.

They reached a critical mass right around the time of Xwitter's tweak to the block function making things a one-way mirror. I think they're all there on BlueSky for the duration by this point, now moreso with the AI training rule going into effect tomorrow.
