Its a thing that everyone does unless you are in full control of yourself. Its saving something or trying to salvage a good reputation when it's been removed. It's one of the oldest memes in the books. It's a trap nearly everyone falls into because they believe that they hold the answer and they are right, they know that they have been shown up, but have an inability to calm down and leave it because they don't want to be seen as wrong.

All he needed to do was leave it at the final second of the metokur stream and focus on his stupid shit.
