Really, the only investigative prowess you might ever need is for catching the occasional "I'm so trad and based I only watch missionary position porn" sperg who's secretly liking and retweeting lolis on a second account.

Like what are we supposed to do about industry wide rot? I don't think we could even if we tried, which isn't the point of the thread. The point is to laugh and mock the freaks that post this shit in public. Twitter is just the most accessible avenue.

A lot of people seem to think the farms are some kind of locus of resistance against the rest of the world, but... really, as Null likes to say: this is still just a gossip website. It's a place for pointing and laughing at lolcows and their communities. If the receipts we collect turn out to be useful in outing or removing some horrible person from society, all the better, but that's still incidental to just being a place to catalogue the strange, the insane, the vain, and the deplorable.

Let's ignore the law part, he's not only gone unpunished in the industry; they outright support and enable him. That might not actually be pandering. Young Japanese people have been picking up more and more English vernacular as slang as more of them become familiar with the language through the internet. So if you're hearing English words coming out of anime, that's probably it.

I went looking for this back when Edgerunners had just been released. The whole thing came out of a stream with one of the producers for the show, and she says the quote that you had screencapped. But it's clear she's speaking out of hand, without any prepared remarks, and she's very loosely summarizing what happened. Part of the problem is that the Japanese themselves sometimes use the term "loli" colloquially to refer to both definitely underage characters, and young-looking women with modest proportions*. Yes, it's their creepy obsession with youth rearing its ugly head again, but it can muddle the waters when it comes to translation.

* I was going to say "short women" there, but "short" is the default state of being for Japanese women in media so that would be redundant.

So, I'm 100% sure everybody involved was using the term "loli" to refer to Rebecca during the show's production, but IMO the final (and initial, if the screencap I provided is to be believed) version of the character matches the second meaning of the word in Japanese much better than the first. It gets worse with her specifically because she turned out to be a very tragic character that almost everybody who watched the show loved, more down to her personality and actions than her looks.
