There's a reason I went with the superior German designed shower control(Grohe).
Knob for temp. Knobs for flow on the shower, tub and hand shower, button to turn each of the 3 on/off. Temp is always the same, flow is always the same.
The plumber doing my bathroom took one look and said "fuck that" so I did it myself. Water side is easy since it's a single module. But the face plate is designed for different wall thicknesses and is a bit of a pain. And it's all in Ikea style fucking pictures.

It's about the shower curtains. The shitty shower rod curtains that constantly fall down. For no good reason. Hell one time they fell down when I was sleeping. What does that have to do with the shower? Whoever invented the tension shower curtain is satan himself.

Correct! The standard euro one has two knobs, one for temperature which you leave alone, and the other for turning on and adjusting flow to either the rain shower or flexible spray head.
But the key thing is it’s thermostatic.
My main problem with American ones is that the standard is to have a single fixed spray head sticking out of the wall at face height. Usually over a tub as well.

Tension rods are fine. No drilling into the tile to install. As long as they're the kind where you actually use a screw to tighten them and not just a weak spring.

Reminds me of that one /k/ meme about a Russian berating people trying to tacticool their ak-47. Shower valves should be simple and effective while being easy to maintain. Something a lot of euro outfits, especially Germans, really suck at.
Agree on curtain rods though fuck that shit. What is it with Americans and tubs anyway? Everyone else is fine with nice tiled shower stalls. But Americans? Gotta have them cheap fiberglass tubs with the plastic surround.
I dream of an enclosed shower with natural rock all around. But I don’t think the trades are going to get cheaper anytime soon. Those days are probably over.
