To be fair to Devin (his advice, not his business practices), he's right that law school is all studying so that you can write a good essay. That's the legal profession in a nutshell. He is also correct that you won't make back your investment on law school if you get bad grades. Top corporate firms hire the best and everyone else either gets stuck doing law they don't like, or end up in a smaller firm making not so much money. Or, they end up working for the state, which is grindy and doesn't pay as much.

Devin's actual career isn't bad. Akin Gump is a major firm, but he only ever made it to Associate, which is pretty low on the totem pole. Serious lawyers work 10-15 years to make Partner and rake in the big money - I'm talking millions over the course of years.

It seems that Devin just wants to be a celebrity lawyer more than anything else, like a Dominic Barbara type. Which will he his future if he keeps being retarded, and means oodles of content.

I actually watched this one because I was genuinely curious what his take would be. He didn't seem to think Mr. Beast has that much to worry about, at least in terms of the law.

I assume not, since it's taken 4 years to reach 14 pages, but is there anything that actually makes this dude a lolcow beyond having political views that are the opposite of Median Kiwifarms User? I've seen a few of his videos and they've always struck me as little beyond profoundly boring.

It seems all there is to this guy is that he's a lefty lawyer who occasionally has some shit takes.

Outside of his political videos, he's a pretty standard lawyer channel

He started orbiting Hbomberguy, people expected more and more insane takes, but he was a let down after his "I am suing the (1st term)Trump US government, because i am the anointed lawyer that is a bad enough dude to put him in prison" arc. 1 pump chump as a lolcow really.
He just never really gave in to the TDS in ways that we expected and saw in other cows. He got laughed at and was considered a bit of a joke over in the lawtube community. Because of said lawsuit. His videos explaining law seem fine, his more entertaining law videos are counting the crimes done in movies.
He is a leftist sure, and he posted a video about how he is btfo after this election. It is just very slim pickings for laughter. I would love to see him go Dark Devin and just TDS post himself in to a fit over Trump's 2nd term.

Who is and is not a lolcow is arbitrary. The forum guidelines literally say that lolcows are not celebrities/politicians yet we have threads for Donald Trump and Kanye West. Legaleagle is breadtube adjacent which would qualify him more than either of those people. If you don't care just ignore the thread.

That said, law, like science is a field that has hundreds of high depth rabbit holes and trying to sit back and explain things as someone who has broad and shallow knowledge of most facets of the field (his specialty is entertainment/media law) generally invites retarded takes. Like how asking someone to smile is an act of aggression that creates grounds for physically assaulting someone in self defense, or thinking that he could successfully sue the NSC over denying a FOIA request. Not understanding FOIA is one of my red flags for bad lawyer tbh. He could have google searched to determine how his FOIA suit would have went. He's etither an idiot or a grifter for pursuing that and acting like he had a case.

I'm honestly of the belief that this thread works best as a long-run monitoring case. Guy constantly shows signs of being liable to devolve into his own Balldoverse over Orange Man, and it's not as if the rules of who is or isn't a lolcow are particularly enforced. Even if he hasn't reached the point where he livestreams during meth benders, his Trump A-logging and general pettiness concerning the law makes him seem like he'll lose it if given enough time.

Aside from working alongside known BreadTubers, he's pretty much not much worth noting. However since he does have some TDS, he could fall into that trap.

I see it the other way around, he is an interesting person solely because he holds what others who have threads don't have: a law degree. In the wrong hands, a law degree can be pretty (self) destructive. But nothing he has done makes me think he'll do anything of note. He's just a very very tame version of Michael Avenatti but without shady legal dealings.

He has potential to either do something really funny or be very unremarkable
