Power and the importance and authority it brings can be a hard thing to step away from.
Here's what I don't get about it: there is a scene in the John Adams HBO series where George Washington steps down after 2 terms and John Adams is elected president. They're standing together after either the certification or the inauguration (I can't remember which event it was) and Washington whispers aside to Adams something to the effect of "now this shit job is yours, good luck."

I have no idea how historical this was, but being a powerful politician is high-stress. You get shit on by everyone. How could someone enjoy doing that for years, let alone decades? Either these people are insane, they're locked in Omerta-style, or it's a much cushier and easier gig than people let on.
It's an addiction.
Or that.

The photo is from a month ago but I wonder if McConnell has already had "the fall" before yesterday, ie the one fall with seniors that basically starts the unstoppable degradation in quality of life.
Yes. In fact we know he did. The guy pretty much had a stroke on National television. What more do you want?

What more do you want?
i want them to bring back American Gladiators and force all congressmen to participate. then, he gets decked by one of those giant foam qtips and falls off the balance beam and punctures his liver and he lies there dying of internal bleeding while women in skimpy, American-themed leotards dance to techno music in cages above

i don't think i'm asking for a lot

I have honestly been so busy and tired as of late that I have found myself being late on catching up with news.

Last night, though, I read something about this on X. Apparently Luigi Mangione does indeed have ties to local Maryland government (one of the family members serves in the MD House of Delegates). There's a lot of theories going around that this might be motivated by insider trading (because apparently this family is chummy with the Pelosi family), but I really need to read up more on that before I draw similar theories myself.
Was it this?

Apparently he's got ties to old/shady money

I don't get honestly why all these old niggas just don't retire. You are like, what? 70? You got shot kidneys, everything hurts, you gotta bust your ass to work each day and you already have enough money to make you, your kids, and your grandkids live in comfort. Like, why bother?

Shit, if I made a million right now, buy a home outright and just work part-time. Maybe spend some cash on a sugar girl for a tiny bit and then spend time doing what I love - Playing vidya and arguing with people on the internet.
Because the moment they step down from a position of power, all the skeletons in their closets fall out on top of them.

And that's why they're in Senate, and you are not. Those type of people never have "enough".

Howard Stern talks about it a bit. Its amazing to be famous. People do stuff for you, suck up to you, bend over backwards to make you happy, etc. With DC Critters is about the power to rule, to call in favors, to feel untouchable, etc. I assume some of them also love playing the game of knives on Capital Hill.

They got the drive (and taste of it). You do not.

Yes. The alternative is to start killing and threatening people, which can happen to you. Leftists want things to get to this level because that's the environment in which they thrive, and they will come after you.
First off, I am not scared of whatever boogeyman you invented in your head. Secondly, the Left has already normalized assaulting political opponents. They attempted to kill Trump twice and have killed countless innocents for the mere act of standing in a group of Trump supporters. It is already at the level that you fear, and no amount of moralfagging over how “The Right shouldn’t fight back, you should bow down and take it” will change the fact that if you have a Trump sign in your yard you are more likely to be harmed in some form.

However, that discussion is completely and utterly detached from this assassination. This was (likely) not a political attack. This was not a Right Wing Chud attacking the Left (though according to the rumors, it may be a continuation of the Left Wing Death Squads you fear). This was a man who assassinated an insurance CEO for (currently) vague reasons, most likely because insurance companies are second only to financial institutions in terms of genuine evil. If you wish to curtail assassinations, then we need alternatives, ones that currently do not appropriately exist. While you may have faith that elected officials pursue the desires of their electors, I myself am rather disillusioned with the political class and their reining in of companies.

We really need to think about adding some level of competency/fitness tests for government. Too many old and witless running things. Anyone running for office needs to have a certain number of hours in townhalls/debates to be eligible for election each cycle.
If a politician cannot crush a man's skull with his bare hands then he has no business taxing me.

We never asked them, kike kvetcher

Of course the kike kvetcher handwaves the technology that has saved American lives by giving them a combat edge on the battlefield and quivers, "b-b-but d-d-did the k-k-kikes...?" lmao
You do realize this is why people hate your race enough to build deportation camps and have the entirety of human history writing theses on why your all scummy Jews. This is why it’s impossible to go to hell for killing a Jew any other act you commit against them because you killed Christ, you can’t even keep your covenant with the Lord so he made a new covenant with everyone else but you. Anyway fuck off kike

I never said "The Right shouldn't fight back" or "you should bow down and take it." It is simple enough for you to say "I do not believe that the current political system can achieve necessary changes" without some stupid strawman.

I also find it amusing that you point out left-wing violence and then mock left-wing violence in the same breath. Which is it? These people tried to kill Trump twice or these people are made up in my head? I don't understand the point you're trying to make there, but you do you.

From what I've read briefly, people suspect it had more to do with insider trading and ties to the Pelosi people. What doesn't make sense, however, is it's also claimed that they found manifesto-esque writings on his person, as well as noting that he posted/reposted "extreme, radical posts". It's funny, because we'll figure out the FBI had an eye on him the whole time and as usual didn't do shit. I would actually argue that in this one specific instance, it was a good thing.

Ultimately it's still too soon to make any strong conclusions, though. On a related note my Uber driver today mentioned something about another CEO being shot. I tried looking into it but couldn't find anything. Does anyone else know about that or was he just schizoposting?

Minor edit: spelling

So there is a good possibility that this unibrow shooter might have killed that guy because insider trading and not to make a political statement?
