Here’s a
great article about her written by a radical feminist, Carolyn Gage
I thought that was the source that talks about the thing I said
here, but it's not. It does briefly mention what I was referring to, though:
As a final footnote, one of Brandon's friends has shared this story about the week between the rape and the murder:
On Christmas day of 1993, when Lisa brought Brandon back… from Falls City, [a friend] met him[Brandon] at the door and said "Hi Brandon" In reply [the friend] was told by Brandon that there was no Brandon, Brandon was gone. Her name is Teena. That didn't change at any point in that last week. (private email, December 20, 2004).
I swear I have read an article that went more into this bit, confirming that she wasn't identifying as a man anymore and considering getting help shortly before death. Hence the inscription on the grave is not transphobic even by TRA standards, and that's why I said it's Marsha situation once again.
Still, an interesting read. One thing that stood out to me:
To explain away her mother's persistent calls, Brandon told Heather that she had been born a hermaphrodite, but that JoAnn had chosen to raise her as a female in order to "keep her for herself."
I just realized how relatively common this is, for these people to claim to be intersex or another similar concept, and in a really uninformed way. I can somewhat see that with cases in the past, it was an attempt at damage control for safety reasons (although, in case with Teena, the danger was still self-imposed, despite the trauma that affected her behavior), but nowadays, when trans identities are normalized and these people rarely ever conceal their sex in first place, what's the point? Oppression points? Shallow attempt at trying to seem "interesting" without having to work on your personality and hobbies? Most likely.
I wonder if the types of plants typically the most available also play into this. Not all veggies and fruits are created equal and a lot of the most available to the western diet are supplemental more so than a main thing. Meat will give you protein and fats even if it is low quality meat.
Various types of Asian diet are rich in most nutrients thanks to different types of plants, mushrooms, and seaweed used for it, but none of them can replace animal products. From what I found, while there may be real environmental and health related concerns about consuming various types of meat, the best solution is either plan your diet better or substitute meat with fish, the latter is arguably better, according to various sources. Either way, veganism is a no-no for humans, you
have to eat an animal.
That makes a lot of sense.
Humans simply didn't evolve to survive on a vegan diet, we're omnivores, and the vegan diet is just unhealthy and not good for people. They have to take vitamins because we simply did not evolve to survive with such a deficiency of vital nutrients.
Every vegan I've met has looked unhealthy and gotten tired easily, it's just an unhealthy lifestyle and people are not supposed to have such a deficient diet.
My one guy friend is now vegan and he is now suddenly complaining about hip pain. I told him that’s probably why but he seemed to ignore me lol He also drinks way more coffee than he used to, I imagine due to him lacking energy from food. Now I’m thinking of it, all the vegans I know are addicted to caffeine real bad.
Recently I felt like I'm unironically about to break down like a jenga tower. I can't even describe the pain I was in, it was pure agony, unlike anything else I have experienced. No painkiller was able to reduce it even for a little bit, my body parts were quite stiff, one wrong movement or not even movement but simple signal from my brain to the limb, telling it to move a specific way, led to pain I was screaming from, it was like I was genuinely getting my muscles torn apart or ripped from bones. I couldn't walk, I strained every muscle I could strain, couldn't even properly control my muscles.
I don't have any serious neuromuscular condition, apart from consequences of shrimping behind my desk for decades, which got fixed more or less anyway. This was simply magnesium deficiency.
I noticed how often pooners self-diagnose themselves with fibromyalgia. The mysterious debilitating pain syndrome with no apparent reason, with symptoms similar to mine, or generally aligning with common nutrient deficiencies. Hmm...
