Stainless steel as well probably was a factor too. This wasn't aluminum like a F 150. The blast hit into steel with a much higher heat tolerance

The stainless steel is cosmetic and stuck on with double sided tape. It being angular has nothing to do with anything here, and even if it was made of solid steel, the fact of having sharp edges would make it weaker rather than stronger, which you should know.
