Low impact news, but mald takes an L once again, as hoarder of hag v-tubers, 21 year old NEET Vedal987 (which writes better code than mald, despite literally never having a job) and his interactive LLM chatbot just overtook mald's previous record hype train, which was level 106, by 5 entire additional levels.

(warning: very loud, not worth watching, but just as documentation)

Imagine getting overtaken by a britbong that's just a bit more than half your age, a v-tuber model, and fancy autocomplete.

:story:
What raised your suspicion?

This is what I wrote on page 127 of this thread:
Apparently the owner of the game is hosting an event where he becomes the boss. I wasn't watching it at all other than like 3 seconds cause I was doing something else but from that 3 seconds I saw hundreds of players fighting the owner controlled boss (imagine a wow pvp battleground level of chaotic) and at the end of the battle...from what I understand of what I'm hearing (again, wasn't watching, only listening), the owner gm teleported mald to an instance to >roleplay< with him into giving him a reward. Mald ended up asking for ferrets to be put in the game and the gm said yes but he will have to wait but he will give him ducklings (and i think a lizard too?) in the meantime before killing mald and sending him back to the normal realm.

Now hold on here, the battle was like 100 vs 1 and mald happens to be the one picked? I mean, I guess that should happen if mald happens to be the boss killer but...it feels suspect? Mald likes to shit on EVE because he claims that that game's gms were biased against his guild and screwed him over (iirc because he says the gm also plays the game on other account and wants his sector or something like that) but here there's some kinda quid pro quo? This happened when there's an audience of 10k after all.

I mean the turtle seems like a technical wizard holding a miracle together with string and a dream.

And could comfortably retire with a virtual harem.

All this to say, he is way more talented than most and certainly mald. It’s not wonder mald loses.

Holy shit, remember how Mald axed the event half of Offbrand after using it to buy himself a trophy? I didn't realize this but apparently they fuckin employed Jerma and now Jerma is effectively jobless minus his streams
Thank God. I was pissed that Jerma started streaming less and focused on his bullshit offbrand job. Hopefully this will lead to him streaming more despite what he says.

I dunno I've seen some things of Vedal and he seems functionally retarded quite often.
The difference between the two of them is Vedal doesn't put himself on top of a pillar of authority. No 20 years of AI development.
He just Elmer glued some AI voice cha treading and other software together with an anime girl and went from there.
This is why Vedal is infinitely more likable though. He's just a guy and its apparent. You can see the growth of him and his experiment in real time.

Jerma's community is insufferable now so I can kind of see why he stopped streaming. I don't think it'll change too much. But it'll be nice to get more of him.

It was Ludwig who did that, not Mald. AFAIK Mald never had anything to do with the event side since he was brought on specifically for the game shit.

He won't touch Hearbound live now. He knows he is being watched so if he shows code now it will just add to his image of incompetency.

Hearbound is kill. (:_(
I'm starting to think most programming streamers don't actually know they're bullshitting. He has enough money to make all his problems go away, and he could always just pay someone to work on it in the background. He just has to admit to himself that he fucked up and pay someone more competent to fix it. It's like how Yandere-dev fired the tinybuild developer for trying to slowly improve his mess when all he had to do was sit back and enjoy someone else's work. If you are at the point where someone is getting paid with someone else's money to do your work, you've made it, and they both blew it.

It was Ludwig who did that, not Mald. AFAIK Mald never had anything to do with the event side since he was brought on specifically for the game shit.
Did anyone ever figure out what they did? I did some searching and all that came up was "creative experiences" and they apparently hosted events to the tune of 250k USD each. What do the events do? I have no idea.

Obviously getting a bunch of streamers together on a salary to do actual work is just setting money on fire, but I didn't expect the money to go that quickly and get (possibly?) embezzled that easily.

Cost mismanagement. Ahgren said that he recently learned Offbrand accountants took around $3 million of his YouTube sponsorship earnings to pad Offbrand’s financials.

“My sponsorship money has not been paid out to me in a couple years,” Ahgren said.

“It was basically being used as float to make Offbrand’s numbers look better than they were.”"

"Lack of business. Offbrand struggled to find creators with large enough production needs to justify the cost of working with the creative agency. The company produced nine events last year, five of which were Ludwig’s.

“There are very few creators who are interested in spending a quarter to a half-million on doing a big event, when they’d rather do it from home,” Ahgren said on YouTube.
Shockingly nobody wanted to pay a bunch of dipshit streamers infinite money to screw around. What exactly do you need a "Chief Creative Officer" for in a streamer house? I have so many questions, but mostly what they intended to do with the 3 million dollars of Ahgran's sponsorships.

Someone on Reddit posted a full list of the events they produced: https://www.reddit.com/r/LudwigAhgren/comments/1hdy88x/in_memorium_of_the_shutting_down_of_offbrand/

Offbrand was basically two separate divisions under the same umbrella. The original Offbrand events thing, and then Offbrand Games that was set up as a publisher. Mald was only ever brought on to the Games side (hence why his title is specifically "Director of Strategy for Offbrand Games"), which still exists, and had nothing to do with the event side which was closed.

Exactly my point. Most others are way worse. And lack dreams of virtual chat waifu to sustain them.

One day mald will debut Ferret Vtuber Waifu. Mark my words.

Based on this tweet (Archive) from a few days ago, he sees this as a challenge. That's just my assumption though.

theirs something intensely disgusting to me about planning a specific date for people to give you money

not for charity, not for a cause or anything
purely for bragging rights
telling your fans to save up and hold onto cash, just so you can be the guy that was given the most money

its a level of ego i dont know how people can be comfortable with
