This happens. It's called "no sharing." Yume community people encourage each other to act like they're in a real life relationship with a fictional character so seeing someone else self ship with the same Hazbin Hotel character is the same as that person being a whore trying to steal your man in real life.

It reminds me of playing barbies with your friends and you couldn't be the pink one because "i'm already the pink one", only you're literally blocking anyone on the internet who also likes pink and getting personally triggered at any sight of someone wearing the same colour because how could they POSSIBLY understand that hue the way you do! I can't say much more since I am honestly guilty of these sentiments from time to time, the more time you spend being delusional the more attached and insufferable you become.

Can confirm, and it can get nasty, to the point that with intimate enough fandoms it can have a lasting impact on everyone's conduct in it.
In service of keeping the Roblox Community General Thread alive with something other than (the unfortunately usual) cyclical pedo outings, I'd been posting about a game by the name of Pressure and its matching drama. A significant portion of it, if not most of it, can be traced back to non-sharing selfship/yume derangement.

To contextualize the game for this thread — In Pressure, the one character any player will have real direct contact with is an oversized merman mutant named Sebastian Solace. His voice actor and him having a sexyman wiki entry (that technically existed as early as a month after the game's release ignoring the original wiki's forced closure) are red flags enough. In addition to this, however, is a throwaway trivia line about who he's "canonically" married to that sealed the fate of the game's first ~5 months of release:

Right, so this fully-fictional character is Truly and Honestly married to an OC (I believe a fursona?) of one of his co-creators. It’s homegrown selfship.
A dubious dynamic to enforce, especially for a game on Roblox, a platform used primarily by little kids? For sure.
Otherwise an inconsequential easter egg, easily ignored (plus-or-minus some in-game integration) if one isn't buttfuck insane? Yes.
Too bad yumes, especially the non-sharers, are buttfuck insane.

So what does a mix of marrying yourself to your own OC, your colleagues passively encouraging people to go bonkers over said OC, and the game that OC's in exploding in popularity and reaching beyond its target audience get you? Months of perpetual drama (that was completely, readily, and totally predictable) that overwhelmingly stems from fury over having to share a hubby! For at least a month from August to September 2024, things got so bad that oZerum forced herself into hiding because of how often she was getting death threats. Over marrying a character she was integral to building up!

Even with those initial months over with and much of the drama quashed, the scars remain. The name "Zerum" itself is restricted in the only technically-official community space with open forums, I imagine to stop anyone from entertaining the idea of talking about her at all. There are people still out there like this one, who pray for her downfall just so Sebastian can be "freed" from her:

And there are freakshows like these, who use their ultimately-fleeting amount of time alive on this planet to write murder-rape-torture fanfics about the mean wife in their way like they're all Naruto, Sebastian is Sasuke, and Zerum is fucking Sakura:

(From this maturely-named collection, which is much worse than I thought it was when I first spotted the bottom fanfic a few weeks ago. Again, what the fuck.)

The seethe also runs deep enough that, on the very-few-and-far-between instances where a fanfic acknowledges the True and Honest marriage enough to write Sebastian/Zerum, I've seen writers have to fight harassment from crazies who go out of their way to whine about Zerum existing on their fics. Utterly ridiculous.

I forgot how I wanted to conclude this. The Ao3 torture porn made me nauseous enough that any ideas fell out of my ears, apparently. Fuck these people.
