In the modern era it is the operating system's responsibility to ensure that the garbage other people write does not damage the computer. But also at the same time with modern hardware the hardware should also avoid bricking themselves based off commands from the operating system.
In this specific case there were graphics cards whose power circuit was not up to spec. It is wrong to attribute blame to the game as the user is using faulty hardware without drivers / firmware to work around this problem.

That being said, the generalization "hardware can not fail from software", is not true. This is merely a goal that the industry tries to make happen. There are financial incentives around not bricking people's computers that incentivize companies to invest towards this goal, but people make mistakes and failures can happen. Saying things like "The hardware is failing. You can not blame the software for that", is missing the point of how consumers think. Consumers don't care whose fault it really is and it looks bad for all the parties involved.

I disagree that the take is retarded, but his defense of it is out of touch with reality.

Jason became popular because he's a chat-oriented streamer. You can't be a chat-oriented streamer while doing serious coding. The best you can do is narrate yourself in kinda a trance state. Sure you can drag and drop little sprites around your GameMaker UI but you can only get so far doing that (maybe, you can probably get pretty far in GameMaker writing almost no code).

What do I know, I've only looked at his stream in brief glimpses but it's always him talking or poking around in the editor.

The shadow programmer he's hiring to finish his game is probably russian too. His audience is the type to sperg about russians existing (muh ukraine) and he placates them with "you dont choose where you're born" so he has a sizable russian fans. He also has a chunk of brazillian simps because of his regional pricing sphiel. Baffling why BOTH him and his audience are acting like he's one of the pioneers of regional pricing on steam. It has been around for many years and people have been using steamdb for comparing prices long before I saw this faggot.

Edit: To clarify, in one of his topic that he likes to repeat over and over, he'd mention regional pricing and then show how he's pricing heartbound way lower in regions like brazil because of their purchasing power and the brazillians in his chat would get excited that brazil is mentioned and then both mald and the brazillians would fellate each other as if no other devs had a similar strategy of pricing their games substantially lower than usa/eu. Which is nonsensical unless you've only been looking at prices of EA games or other AAA games or something. This is also usually where his taco index comes up (purchasing power talk).
