I'm not saying it's essential to update every tool and library constantly. It only becomes the Yandere Dev meme I was referring to, when the game is developed for almost a decade and the refusal to update anything, starts causing significant issues. Yandere Dev is trying to get new Unity style path finding, in an ancient version of Unity, resulting in poor optimization and students stuck walking into walls.
Thor had to give up on the Mac port, because he was trying to compile a Gamemaker Studio 1 game, on what was at the time, a new version of Mac OS and predictably, it wasn't happening. This and the Switch port would both be quite easy to do, after porting the game to the not so different Gamemaker Studio 2.
This, combined with his stupid and easily circumventable anti-piracy measures, also caused issues with the initial Steamdeck port, but those were easy to resolve.
