I thought no way I'm watching this, but it is a fascinating, deep dive into the game. I'm almost finished it. They don't mention the ferret fucker so far. Lots of mentions of Something Awful and the goons though. They were a huge part of this game.
As a longtime eve player (since 2005) this is a terrible fucking video. Do not watch it, do not give this guy any credit. It is basically just a 1:1 plagiarism of the Empires of Eve book. A book that was solely commissioned by Goons, to niggerwash eve history.
Imperium/Goons are not and have never been the most powerful or influential faction in the game, and yet they are referenced over 300 times in the video. Pandemic Legion, one of the formost pvp and super/titan using factions is mentioned once, Norther Coalition the group that for the longest had the most supers/titans in the game(and used them) is mentioned once. PL and NC. were largely the most powerful coalition in the game, and generally won fights when they engaged in them. Black Legion emerged as a very powerful faction that could contest both Goons and Panfam(PL/NC.) and they weren't mentioned a single time. That isn't even to mention all the powerful low sec groups that could swing battles via their participation.
Eve is a hard game to understand, because nothing is really recorded outside of incomprehensible youtube videos(that often get taken down for copyrighted music) and Reddit posts. So to get a clear picture of what is going on you actually have to talk to people who were there. The Empires of Eve book was commissioned by goons. Goon leadership went out of their way to mobilize their members to participate and tell their story, and the author really didn't go anywhere else or talk to anyone else. So its a completely one sided view of things. This down the rabbit hole retard just used his book as the only reference and as such it is just a 6 hour long goon circle jerk. If you enjoy the video fine, but just know this is not how things actually went down.
Edit: Also, you won't hear about Maldavius in this video. He is/was completely inconsequential. Even if this video was solely focused on the Pochven stuff you wouldn't hear about him, because he didn't matter. He played no role in anything. He had no power. He wasn't "cutting peoples supply lines,"(not even something you really do in eve lol, at least how he described it). He wasn't even the one that figured out how to get into the new space, that was another player that he used to follow around like a puppydog trying to learn his secrets. His alliance weren't these genius eve players, they were high sec carebears that only knew how to do pve content. They didn't understand ship fitting or pvp comps or anything. I know for a fact Maldavius wasn't leading any of the fleets to defend their space, that was all done through some junior FCs from Goons. I've stated it before in posts, but I will say it again. Maldavius was 100% inconsequential in eve. Do not give him any credit for anything with regards to Eve. He has 0 accomplishments in game. No one knows of him as a great alliance leader, or FC, or even as a particularly troublesome individual. His only notoriety in the game is he went on to become "famous" and bragged about what he did in game, and eve players looked back and thought "I was there and I don't even remember seeing this retard or his alliance involved in any of the major fights." So his only big accomplishment in the eve community is being a liar.
