Magic The Gathering

You are Kiwis, you aren't part of any (((COMMUNITY))), I imagine you are all like me where you try to tolerate the idiocy just so you can actually play the game at all.
The people at my LGS are okay, it's been open for like 4 months and the real sickos, degens, and BO warriors haven't shown up yet, but I've been trying to sell some of my expensive cardboard via whatsapp group and it's the most MISERABLE FUCKING EXPERIENCE. So yes I'd agree, it's all retards and autists and I hate (((them))) IN GENERAL, but I do love my silly card game so I gotta take the good with the bad.

I post: Selling (Picture of what I'm selling), from (city), I don't do shipping to anywhere, CK Prices.

Literally 3 seconds after my picture is uploaded I get: *voice note with the faggotiest voice ever and it's some nigger with a vtuber pfp ON WHATSAPP* hey im in *city nowhere close to me* do you deliver??? when can you ship??? i know it's a holiday rn but i want them to arrive by tomorrow ill also only pay after ive gotten the cards and confirmed their conditions also im only buying at SCG prices but ill trade you this half of an ugin card for FULL CARD KINGDOM FOIL PRICE and you make up the difference kthx

I've blocked like 20 of the 100 people in the group already.

How do you ruin thoughtseize
You put it under duress, despise it, subject it to blackmail and inquisition, divest it, force it to dream of blood and oil, and give it a phyrexian mana cost. Or just agree to leave it unmolested and put thoughtsieze into standard and make standard great again.

Lorwyn was the one set that ive been looking forward to because i like Oona and the funny faeries. The one set that can pull back the community from doom and they decided to push it back.

Dragons, FF, Spider-man, Eternity and Avatar? Surely there are other sets on top of this because of Wizards? These UB just feel like Un sets and I don't think they attract new players our locals have had the same 6 people for FNM and the same 20 for pre-release for years.
I think the Final Fantasy set is going to do the opposite because it will be popular for collectors/fans plus the fact that the MSRP is so high standard decks will jump in price massively if any card in there set is meta.
It has a massive chance of pushing people out of standard because of price once again.

Hol up, you aint badmouthing Inquisition of Kozilek are you? Cause IoK is a great discard effect.

Theros Standard being black-dominated almost purely on the back of Thoughtseize was cancer-aids, and Abzan dominating unchecked afterwards because of that card was even worse.

Thoughtseize just isn't a card that should get a standard-border, even for how stupidly powerful the rest of the pool seems.

Yup turns out you don't actually have to play against a deck if you can remove the important parts turn one for B and 2 life. Must suck to get your thoughtseize thoughtseized.

They'll just print Thoughtseize+ that costs 3 life but lets you discard any card from your opponent's hand instead

I am seeing a lot of hype over the FF set locally (south america) but given that we have to pay extra out of the ass because """"import taxes"""" and """"the store's fee"""" it's been a lot more subdued than the soybuddies on rebbit who are just preordering all of the collectors commander decks without even seeing the decklists. I *hope* prices level out because I want to pull the foxy xiv grandpa but if it's too bad I'll just have to skip on it too, I'm not selling a kidney for the hobby no matter how much quick cash hasbro wants out of mtg.

I was more just trying to be cute and name all the thoughtsieze comparable cards I could think of, I actually like almost all of them that I named (divest is shit tho)

I actually liked the cancer aids format, and would love to go back to it. It’s not like people actually play standard anymore, so I’m of the opinion that WOTC should just throw shit at the format until people actually start looking at it again.

Not just yet - first they need to put hymn to tourach in the next modern horizons
God that card is obnoxious
because I want to pull the foxy xiv grandpa
Thancred, Urianger, and Louisoix (if they all get cards) will be commander-bait nonsense with a whole bunch of setup for weird effects, so I just don't see them as singles costing much at all.

Paper standard, yeah. But they play arena standard plenty, and given how the wildcard economy works, 95% of the meta is going to jam the 4-of thoughtseize deck

Oh for sure, I'm expecting all of them to be in the scions deck with shtola to begin with, but since they've said that there's gonna be multiple versions of the same chara (like the 8 clouds and 12 sephirots we are FOR SURE getting) it's gonna be fun to see if they make an Estinien broken as fuck for standard and another one that just loots or dodges removal or some other silly shit like that for the commander deck.

Re : Thoughtseize in Standard.

I honestly think it -MIGHT- be fine, Power has crept to the point where a single discard isn't catastrophic for a lot of decks like it used to be, and you have a bunch of Variants of Burn and Aggro to punish the life loss, this is why in Modern you often take out Thoughtseize before you take out IOK because the life loss can add up between Fetches, Shocks and Seize itself, my main point about "powercrept" Thoughtseize is..unless you make it one or zero life (which might actually be broken) there isn't really a way to push it further.

So the stories for Tarkir have started

It seems we are just skipping that the Khans Clans came back, The Plot Opens with Narset, cause you know fuck the fact we have a long standing plot with Jace and Co to do, we gotta fucking waste time with Narset in a tea house, and her POV reveals that afte the Phyrexian invasion..Narset and the other New Khans..overthrew the Dragonlords..using a Storm Ritual.

Man don't you think that might have been an interesting story to follow? GOD FORBID WE FOLLOW MAJOR WORLD CHANGING EVENTS THAT HAPPEN INSTEAD OF JUST FUCKING SKIPPING TO THE PAYOFF EVERY MOTHERFUCKING TIME.

I've also finished the first part of the Brother's War last night

The book is okay, its not amazing but I am still enjoying it. I was wrong about Urza...the situation isn't "partly his fault" like I used to say. Urza is completely and correctly in the right the entire time so far. At the end of the first section Mishra goes to Urza's cabin to straight up steal the Mightstone. Mishra WENT looking for trouble that night and Tocassia paid for it.

Thank you! I really appreciate you putting to words what has been bugging me not just in Magic writing, but writing in general lately. Trying to skip directly to the payoff.

By Skippy I am fighting an autistic urge to rant on this...
