Steven Crowder deposition on his falsely identifying a man as a neo-Nazi mass murderer on his show.
I had never heard about this. I found the following article:
https://www.mediaite.com/media/fox-...sely-identified-him-as-neo-nazi-mass-shooter/
archive: https://archive.is/h7cVG
Amateur internet sleuths dug up a 2022 mugshot of the 36-year-old Garcia, when he was arrested for an unrelated matter, and claimed he was the shooter. That was incorrect, but the photo nonetheless went viral online – and was also shared in reports by multiple television networks and podcasts.

Garcia’s lawsuit, filed in county court in Austin, Texas, names as defendants Fox News, Newsmax, Univision, Steven Crowder and his Louder with Crowder media company, podcaster Tim Pool’s company Timcast Media Group, host of InfoWars’ War Room Owen Shroyer, Jason Lee’s podcast company Hollywood Unlocked, Today News Africa, and that outlet’s White House correspondent Simon Ateba. Each of the defendants is accused of having “recklessly disregarded basic journalistic safeguards” by publishing “the photo of an innocent man, branding him as a neo-Nazi murderer to his local community and the nation at large” in reports dated May 7 through 9, 2023.

Seems like this is a wide net. Normally I'd say you need to prove lying with intentional malice for defamation, but it's 2025 so who the fuck knows what the rules are anymore.

The same law firm YouTube channel posted depositions with Alex Jones, and News Max ect. It seems like a political action firm, trying to get retarded awards against their political enemies.
Kinda like how Peter Thiel funded Hulk Hogan's lawsuit that bankrupted Gawker.

And no need to guess that law firm youtube channel isn't white as snow as they claimed.

I think this year he will finally come out of the closet or sorta, like admitting being bisexual or something.
I sometimes wonder if he's jealous of Tim Dillon? He's popular with conservatives, he's friends with Joe Rogan and appears regularly on his podcast, he's actually funny both as a comedian and podcast host.. all while being an open homosexual. Steven has to have on multiple occasions seethe over Tim Dillon.

Gerald Morgan deposition in the same matter.
Damn I just found out about this! What has been the outcome of this case or is it still ongoing?

I know almost nothing. YouTube recommended those videos along with all the other legal shit I listen to at 2x speed.

This is a limited deposition before a Texas anti-SLAPP hearing that could toss the case completely.

Steven Crowder deposition on his falsely identifying a man as a neo-Nazi mass murderer on his show.
The comments are doing a decent job questioning his shit.
So, what I take from this is that Crowder is 100% ok with media reporting lies about him as long as someone on social media said it first.
“Well I’ve never labeled myself a journalist”
“I’m not a journalist” while he compares himself to every journalistic/news outlet
Dude said he vaules power of truth then proceeded to say he has no idea who runs HIS show. Lol. Wild.
And now, here's NotebookLM's take on what he said:
This document summarizes key themes and factual claims from Steven Crowder's deposition testimony. The deposition focused on Crowder's May 8th, 2023 show, in which he misidentified Mauricio Garcia as the Allen, Texas mass shooter. The testimony reveals Crowder’s views on media responsibility, his company’s internal processes, and his justification for using an unverified photo. The testimony also highlights a lack of clear internal controls and Crowder’s reluctance to admit fault or acknowledge the potential harm caused by the misidentification.

Key Themes and Ideas:

  1. Crowder's Media Operation:
  • General Media Company: Crowder describes "Louder with Crowder LLC" as a "general media company" that includes a daily program, reporting/investigative unit, a website with articles, and social media presence.
  • Distribution: His show is primarily distributed via internet platforms such as YouTube, Rumble, and his subscription service "Mug Club," as well as audio podcasts.
  • No Traditional Media: He confirms that he does not have licenses with radio stations, nor is he carried on cable or over-the-air broadcast television.
  • Fact-Checking: Crowder claims that his company provides fact-checking of news, aiming to inform audiences about truth vs. falsehood, even recently doing so for the DNC.
  1. Crowder's Background and Views on Journalism:
  • Limited Formal Training: While Crowder admits to studying media in college for two semesters, he maintains that he has "years of experience" that justify not agreeing he has no educational background in journalism.
  • Experience: He worked for Fox News in a more "comedic" role but did hard news at times.
  • Responsibility: He acknowledges that with a larger audience, "the magnitude of potential harm that could be caused by publishing a false statement about someone also increased." Yet he resists identifying as a journalist, and claims to take responsibility regardless of audience size.
  • Comedic Elements: Even when covering hard news, Crowder notes he often includes comedic and "sketch elements."
  • Care: Crowder admits that when broadcasting to a large audience he must take care to consider the magnitude of harm false information could have.
  • Internal Controls and Fact-Checking at "Louder With Crowder":Crowder as the Final Authority: Crowder asserts that no one at "Louder with Crowder" can stop him from saying something on his show or fire him. He has ultimate editorial control.
  • Vague Verification Practices: Although he asserts that the usual practice is to "verify the accuracy of images", he admits that his organization does not "always" do this.
  • Primary vs. Secondary Sources: Crowder distinguishes between primary and secondary sources, but argues he doesn’t have to verify if it’s reporting on someone else’s report.
  • "Authoritative Sources": Crowder notes the process is to find “at least one source that would be viewed as legitimate” and confirm with another. He admits that when reporting on someone else’s story they don’t have the same “strict process of due diligence.”
  • Lack of Individual Investigation: In this specific case, he does not perform nor ensure anyone on his team performs independent investigation of the image before airing. Crowder asserts they trusted their source.
  1. The May 8th Show and Misidentification:
  • Claim of Media Lies: Crowder claims that "the media" was lying about the shooting and that his show would provide the "true information." This is in reference to the shooting at Allen, Texas mall in May 2023.
  • Focus on Image: The deposition emphasizes Crowder’s decision to display the image of Mauricio Garcia as the shooter. Crowder says, “…We're pulling this from Today News Africa is because it's the only it's the only news outfit showing you the shooter's face.”
  • Justification: He justifies his use of the photo by saying he was reporting on "their reporting" implying a lower level of required fact-checking.
  • Today News Africa: Crowder admits that he does not know if Today News Africa had a primary source, nor does he remember any details about the origin of the photo they used.
  • Simon Ataba: He refers to Simon Ataba as a “White House credential reporter.” He cannot clarify that this means anything beyond anyone with a hard pass.
  1. Defense and Justification:
  • Media Bias: Crowder consistently states the media was biased and misleading by initially pushing a “white supremacist mass shooter” narrative then ceasing all coverage once it became apparent the shooter was Hispanic.
  • "Hispanic Looking Face": He states the media was being “nefarious” and claims that they did not want people to see the shooter's "very Hispanic looking face". He states it was a "political reason" that they did not show the photo because “people generally think of white people” when they think of white supremacists.
  • Shifting Blame: He claims that he does not need to investigate images if he's reporting on someone else's reporting.
  • Lack of Retraction: Even after realizing he used an incorrect photo, Crowder has not issued a retraction.
  • Doubts about Authenticity of Images of the Real Shooter: He suggests “intelligence agencies” may have been involved in the incident and suggests the images of the real shooter are also dubious.
  • No Discipline: Crowder is unable to confirm if anyone was disciplined for this error at his company.
  • Mug Shot: Crowder asserts that his team was operating under the impression they were displaying a mug shot of the shooter.
  • Crowder's View of "Mainstream Media""Lies": Crowder uses very strong language, such as "lies" when referring to the mainstream media, even when they are technically accurate.
  • General Unreliability: He asserts that "mainstream media" outlets are generally unreliable, even though he uses their reporting as a source.
  • Bias: He believes the mainstream media abandoned the story because the shooter was Hispanic, not white.
  • Conspiracy: He suggests a conspiracy on the part of mainstream media to hide the true image of the shooter and that they had political motives.
Key Quotes:

  • "We take care to be as responsible as possible regardless of the size of the off audience."
  • "There's a difference between breaking news for example some that's exclusive to us where there's a obviously very strict a much more strict process of due diligence if we are the news then there's reporting on the news that is available publicly or reporting on someone else's report"
  • "If you are making a definitive claim you should do your best to be accurate."
  • "Truth matters...intrinsically."
  • "I believe that everything else everything else mentioned in the clip you even just showed was correct…the image was incorrect but all that other information was correct"
  • "They want to tell you that he was a white supremacist and not see his very Hispanic looking face."
  • "The staff and whatever processes took place were not performed correctly and a mistake was made"
  • "If one did know that there was no criminal history if one knew that there had never been any type of image taken in a police PR Precinct or legal um type situation or context if one knew that definitively and then knew that that was definitively a mug shot then that would be a reasonable assumption I believe if I've met those prerequisites that you've said"
  • “I would imagine that people who are not particularly white don't make great white supremacists”
  • "It is my recollection that on May 6th they were already labeling it another white supremacist Massacre before let's say they were let's say they were and they weren't but let's say they were that's not wrong that's not bullshit right disagree.”
Conclusion:

The deposition testimony reveals a concerning lack of due diligence at “Louder with Crowder”. Crowder's justifications for publishing an unverified image, along with his shifting narrative and claims of media bias, raise serious questions about his journalistic standards and his organization’s commitment to accuracy and responsibility. The testimony also highlights a deeply flawed process with an absence of internal checks and balances.

This document serves as a detailed review of key themes and ideas from the deposition and is intended to provide a factual basis for further discussion and analysis of this issue.

Yeah, that's the point of the channel existing.

The law is pretty clear in reporting on matters of public concern, you can deceptively edit a 911 call to make a person look racist, and it's cool because they're a public figure. Or be Rachel Maddow, and claim someone is "literally, truly, an agent of Russia" only to have the judge say: 'Nobody with an average level of intelligence would ever take her seriously.'
The testimony also highlights a lack of clear internal controls
This is actually a point in his favor, as there are few to no controls to violate, and in doing so prove malice, which is required to overcome the public figure exception.

The description of the video says they settled shortly after the deposition. Im guessing the settlement amount is being kept confidential.. would really like to know how much this cost Steven...

I think most comedians are jealous of Tim Dillon. You could give that guy a chair and a microphone and he could have you in stitches for an hour just riffing.

Most of them need a year to get a funny 15 minute set.

Since Crowder was never that funny as a stand up I can see him being super jealous, especially as Crowder has to stay closeted.

Does anyone else remember the time he had on a furfag who was anti nazifurs and he took the whole thing seriously? Ive forgotten a lot of louder with crowder streams but this one specific part is just stuck in my memory and I cannot for the life of me forget about it.
I'm almost 100% it's Milo Yiannopoulos in that suit and Crowders in on the joke.

So a lot of Crowder's buddies like The Quartering and the Hodge twins are cozying up with Andrew Tate. Has Crowder done anything to show he's friends with them?
I sometimes watch quarter pounder cause hes quick on news and I think I recall him shitting on the tates several times...him and fuentes. The hodges congratulated that one whore on getting an elon baby too so im not suprised.

Between that and Hilary's tweet about the Hodge Twins:

I will be really interested in seeing what Steven has to say about the Tate brothers. This might be getting big enough that it'll be hard for Steven not to comment about them.
