UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I was in Central London last month and I gotta say I love the city itself - unmatched grandure. It's really hard to believe that its been blighted by terrorist attacks and violence and yet it has - I kind of get the londoner cognitive dissonance. It should have never got to this point.
If you live in London and actually work for a living (in a professional office based job), you might be mistaken for thinking it's still 90%+ white.

You're on the tube during commuter hours, you're outside during the 9 to 5 lunch break as is everyone else with a job, you spend most of your time in areas where offices are based. You can imagine the demographics around you.

Those people are relatively isolated from the fact their taxes are going to babysit Africans because none of them work for a living and they keep to their free Zone 1 and 2 neighbourhoods. Sure your phone gets stolen by a New-Brit, but that's because there aren't enough youth clubs!

Not sure how many knives are actually in Rupert's back - Farage and Yusuf appear to have come armed with sporks. This was enough to dispatch other rivals in the past because they had no platform and no obvious means of recourse. It's not that easy this time.

There are also reports of shenanigans relating to the Stafford branch of Reform, where the membership appears to have been frozen out and new leadership is being imposed by HQ.

He told Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips on Sky News: “There will be changes in long-term disability benefits, because we cannot sit back and let this bill grow and write people off in a way that’s happened for many years.”
They keep saying it's merely a reform and not a series of cuts, but the Red Tories haven't exactly done much to show that's the case yet.

Rachel Reeves is expected to announce a £6 billion cut to welfare as part of a string of “politically painful” measures to ease pressure on the public finances.
Will any of these painful measures include cutting off aid for illegals, closing the migrant hotels and not sending money to foreigners to keep their own natives?
compensation for Waspi women
It's not compensation. Those women paid into the government pension pot and were robbed of six years of their savings.
But hey, at least abdullah the 36 year old child migrant and violent rapist can eat T-bone steak tonight.

Multiple explosions' as tanker and ship crash in North Sea - with jet fuel spilling into sea and vessels on fire
So how fucked are we? Clearly it's already leaking as reports say the seas on fire and it's black smoke coming from the vessels. If it is bad which it sounds like it is then the whole of the eastern sea boards about to die off and kill what ever was left of our fishing industry and kill any coastal city/town on that side of the country.
Sorry for the double-post but if this hits Hull and, God willing, Withernsea, then all will be fine. If it hits Brid, Flamborough, Bempton (cliffs), Skipsea and Hornsea, then the already financially-struggling east coast of yorkshire will be killed off.

Seriously though, haul the two freighters onto the sands at Withernsea and allow the burning oil to flatten that shit hole of a fucking disgrace of a seaside town. Never have I visited a coastal town that deserved a tidal wave as much as Withernsea.

I feel like drastically curbing immigration (specifically sand niggers) may help ease the welfare spending, among many other things.

We just might have a slight shortage of cash-only barbers and kebab shops-but I think we can manage.
We could curb just the immigration of tusken raiders and it would already be a massively noticeable improvement.

They have the least amount of people working (pretty sure even niggers had them beat last time I checked), they commit by far the most fraud of any group via laundering, not declaring their earnings and general benefit scams, they are the biggest costing group on the NHS by far due to all the birth defects and high amounts of health tourism they do and they pretty infamously only spend within themselves and avoid spending in chain and none Arab/east Asian (same thing) shops.

They even do the most wealth extraction by sending trillions back to where ever they came from which takes it out of our economy entirely. Don't believe me? Go watch YouTube during mid day without an ad block on and you'll get a lot of ads about transferring money back to India and Africa which mysteriously stop around 3pm.

I am one of the people you describe ( I don't live in London, but commute to an office job ). Your views are antiquated. At least half of the office is non white and probably second or ( at best ) third generation "English" ( thanks Diversity, Equity and Inclusion ). I certainly don't think I'm anything other than a minority in London and nor does any white person that isn't wilfully blind.
I think I'm actually on the other side of the coin you describe in the fact that I get on the train, don't leave my office all day and then go straight back to the train station and go home. I deliberately don't spend ANY time that I don't have to in public in London - because of the demographics. It's not safe, I'm surrounded by people I really don't want to be around and so I minimise my risks accordingly.
I think the ignorrance on demographics is more prevelant in the "shires" ( I think of Hobbits ) - Surrey, Kent, Sussex, etc. The invasion isn't fully complete there. It's changing, but if you live in a nice area, people pay for the exclusivity to keep it nice....if you know what I mean.

Mike Amesbury is resigning as MP for Runcorn and Helsby, which will trigger a by-election.
Took the fellow long enough. Apparently in court despite there being footage of the event he tried claiming this.
The court heard that Amesbury told the police he had been approached by a man "shouting and screaming", and said that, because he was terrified and the other man's "arms were swinging", he felt he had no option but to "defend" himself.

Despite the judge calling his comments "a pack of lies", Amesbury maintains he "felt threatened" by Mr Fellows.
I'm also archiving the Guardian for this breath taking display.
Mike Amesbury has resigned as an MP after being given a prison sentence for punching a constituent.
The 55-year-old was suspended by Labour and lost the party whip on 27 October after a clip was published by MailOnline.

His resignation will trigger a byelection in the Runcorn and Helsby seat in Cheshire, which he won with a large majority in July.
Amesbury was given a 10-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, after he admitted assaulting Paul Fellows after a night out.
In an interview with the BBC, Amesbury said he regretted the attack “every moment, every day”.
Not "suspended after assaulting a constituent which was caught on camera." Oh no, suspended because THE MAIL published a clip.

Still looking forward to my vacation on the outer hebrides next month.
Lovely! April often very brisk, but it’s the most gorgeous place on earth. Just drive around and enjoy the beaches. Scarista is a treasure. If you’re island hopping then Tiree is really nice.
At what (realistic) point would anarchy explode within the UK? We can tut and moan all we like, but we certainly have a breaking point-just what is that breaking point? When was the last time that breaking point erupted?
We already have anarchy, I think. Realistically the laws don’t apply to certain people and are used punitively against others for their opinions. That’s at least anarcho tyranny adjacent?
I kept asking during Covid what it would take for people to FINALLY realise what was going on, but no. Part of me wants to see a proper full Anglo Saxon chimp-out. Full Beowulf. Great heathen army mark 2. Except this time we focus on them and aren’t distracted by the French.
I could start a new Bayeux tapestry after! That’d be nice wouldn’t it? Panel 23: the strangely-coiffed Brits, seen here under an arch marked Greggs, in battle against the swarthy invaders….

The thing is it won't erupt all at once it will ebb, very similar to Sweden. You'll get massive upticks in major cities which will affect the infrastructure like council, police, and hospitals. This will then echo out into the suburbs for example in account for London, it will go to Reading or Birmingham, Bromsgrove.

I think this is a certainty at this point.

The breaking point is when the last infidels refuse to accept allah and must be slain.

Oh, you meant breaking point for whitey? Not going to happen.

You need REAL disenfranchisement for that to happen. People will not only need this, but certainly historically you need people to be hungry.
At the moment, and I can only speak for my area, that whilst things are not good, people are still living far too comfortable lives for this to happen. If you feel you have too much to lose, then why would you risk a state of anarchy ? Whilst like the majority, I don't like the direction our country is going in or the totalitarian government I haven't elected, I don't see this happening any time yet.
