So, while I agree there are slippery slopes, I think there's merit to saying that AI CP is CP, and since CP is illegal so is it's derivative.

This was discussed in the AI Derangement Syndrome thread but the bill bans 'obscene visual material' and due to the 1st Amendment courts have very strict definitions of obscenity. The federal government already has a law that bans 'obscene' loli cartoons:

18 U.S. Code § 1466A - Obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children

(a)In General.—Any person who, in a circumstance described in subsection (d), knowingly produces, distributes, receives, or possesses with intent to distribute, a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture, or painting, that—
(1)
(A)depicts a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; and
(B)is obscene;

This Texas law will probably only be tacked on to offenders that are being charged with much harsher child exploitation or pornography offenses.
Prosecutors have to argue that any given loli hentai image is obscene and not just free expression under the 1st Amendment, which as far as I know has proven difficult in the cases it has been tried.
