Goku was easily the weakest part of TFS as all jokes involving him were just randumb humor. Gohan close behind for only having "straight man" to go for with jokes. Very weak, one note characters.

He's meant to sound like an uneducated hick, not a literal fucking retard. (Which is one of the reasons Super Saiyan on Namek was so cool, because in Japanese, Goku dropped his rural accent when he transformed. Unlike MasakoX who just continues the goofy retard voice)
Masako's What-If's are extremely boring too, hardly differentiating from the DB trio (Namek-Androids-Buu) ever in any meaningful way other than occasionally more or different people having yellow hair or being around to fight shit.

In fairness, that's 99% of Dragon Ball What-If scenarios. They're almost always just "What if X character was as strong as Y during Z Arc?" because the series is too shallow to come up with anything more interesting.

The only way to make what-ifs interesting is if you throw movie villains in rather than the standard 3 threats of Freeza Cell Buu.
And if the what if covers pre Raditz DB expect maybe 4 paragraphs for it.

If there's any part of the setting I'm glad Toriyama killed before he died it was "Goku was an EVIL baby, he was born EVIL."

Wasn't that the Multiverse arc that turned out to be just a vision Elder Kai and bailing on the 'Raditz unlocked potential' plot they kept cutting back to trying to build up?

In short, Kai ran out of time, shat himself over the mysterious contestant (the black smoke one who's probably Black Shenron) and decided to rush it with potara rings. Ragotzu/Gokuditz of course went berserk immediately and got his team booted out. On the other side decides he can take on Lord Emperor Vegeta in this form, that battle sadly is resolved in the next pannel with Goku and Raditz unfused and beaten up on the floor. Meh, what a waste.
