To me, acting as if cold, calculating Cyrus would never actually plot the murder of his wife as a reaction to potential adultery is just one more straw on the camel's back in terms of softening Cyrus' character. "He'd kill her in a fit of passion!" Is that because it seems more honest to his character, or because crimes of passion are seen more leniently and sympathetically than planned crimes? Her inconsistency is increasing. Between this and all the AUs, why not just make new OCs?

I think the large number of Christians is likely due to some people being baptized at birth, since i've actually only seen very little of them in about 20 years. The insight is appreciated and it is good for the thread to have other French people offering such insight, however I still disagree. While France is not a fervently devout country, I would still not be calling it anti-religion. As I said, while most people do not care about religion, the culture is still vastly influenced by religion, especially catholicism. France has a ridiculous numbers of jours fériés related to catholic holidays. You have said it yourself: even while not being religious, your mother still wears a cross and your grandmother puts up a nativity scene every Christmas. This is what I would call culturally religious, and it makes little sense for an "anti-religion country" to display such a culture.

As I do with most of Fanny's work, I read this one. As horrifying as it is, there is nothing innovative or surprising coming from Fanny. There is nothing new.
For those who do not want to read this, which I can understand, I will write a thorough (but hopefully brief) summary of the work to expand on what I am talking about.

Spoiler: Autistic and horrifying summary

As explained by scoiattolino, this is a fic happening in the Divorce AU, some indeterminate time after Lynn has started seeing Alec, in which Alec kidnaps Cy and keeps him locked in his basement. Since this is from the point of view of Cy, we do not know why Alec did so (though Alec mentions Lynn did tell him how badly Cy wanted to be back with her, but she would never want him now that he's so sullied and submissive or something, idk man).
Cy has been in the basement for around 23 days. Alec barely feeds him, he's getting desperate about food. Alec shows him a bowl of dog food, in exchange of getting his dick sucked. Why would anyone want to get their dick sucked by the landwhale that is Cy, I wonder; as is often the case, the most incoherent part of the story is Fanny treating Cy like he is desirable, but I am getting sidetracked. Cy gives Alec a blowjob; the narration spends a curious amount of time on how Cy is proud of his work and it should feel good but it doesn't (verbatim). This happens a lot during this fiction, which does betray how Fanny writes this with one hand and how much she enjoys rape. Alec forces his cock down Cy's throat, making him puke bile. The narration/Cy spends some time on how it's not about pleasure for Alec, but power and control.
Alec then gives Cy the dog bowl, which is, surprise surprise, empty. Then he pisses in it so Cy has something to drink. Cy does so, because he is desperate, and notes the bad taste of urine is not overwhelming and Alec must keep himself well hydrated. Remember to drink water!
Alec offers Cy some real food in exchange of getting his (Cy's) ass fucked. Cy is desperate, so he accepts. Alec fucks his ass rawdog with no lube, there's blood, it's so humilating. Alec taunts Cy about how Lynn cannot love him anymore, about how he is better than Cy, and how no one looked for him. Cy finally breaks down and cries. Alec takes pics, and tells him he will show them to Lynn; Cy begs him not to, then after a moment, asks Alec when he plans on killing him. Alec says he'll keep him around a little longer. Fin.

Now the reason I've explained everything the way I did is very simple: nothing in this was unexpected to me. After months of perusing her threads, her blogs, her posts, old and new, there was nothing surprising in her latest work. Everything was predictable.
Just so we are on the same page, I do not believe I am a degenerate. I did not predict anything because I consume this kind of content, but because Fanny is very, very repetitive. The same way a jumpscare stops working after it's gotten you three or four times, horror cannot work if you are too accustomed to the feeling of dread it is supposed to bring you.
Once you understand her kinks and quirks, Fanny's works stop being horrifying, but rather a list of whatever she thinks is the most degrading event that can happen. Throwing up bile? Well, of course, it's degrading, why wouldn't she put it there? The dog bowl? It was of course going to be empty so she can have her little piss and humilation kink. Cy breaking? It's her kink, getting broken, and in this scenario, she projects herself onto Cy, so he has to give in, otherwise it's not as pleasurable to her. This is also the reason why Cy/the narration keeps mentioning how it could feel good or pleasurable (despite Cy being straight): because she LOVES rape, and she cannot fathom not incorporating how pleasurable the idea of getting raped is to her. She can't be doing this with your run-of-the-mill cnc content either, she needs REAL rape, something in which there is no consent at all.

Once you start reading Fanny's work through the lens of filling a bingo sheet, her work is only horrifying on the surface. She wants to be shocking, but she is not clever or inventive enough to be, so like a cheap jumpscare, it stops getting to you. Or maybe I've just spent too much time on this thread, who knows.

I guarantee this was primarily pushed conceptually by Christianna; Fanny goes along with the flow when it comes to disgusting collaborators (like Datros, who collaborated with her on the Cyberpunk!AU). Christianna is arguably darker than Fanny because not only does she like just about everything Fanny does, but has an extra specific fixations on incest, pedophilia, torture and snuff. Her OC Alec - the one raping Cyrus in this context - is, to my knowledge, a serial killer, a rapist and a child groomer of his own daughter. He basically reads like an edgelord's bible.

It's poetic justice for a character like Cyrus to be raped and abused, but even then the writing is too lackluster and pedestrian to really carry forth any horror - or karmic satisfaction. Thanks to a combination of Fanny's unimpressive writing talents and Christianna's overexaggeration of male evil, it reads as so intentionally transgressive as to circle back around into being boring. Sincerely, if Fanny gets off on transgression, she needs to be like that one mutual of hers on Baraag who draws the monkey baby incest rape snuff. Lynn slurping Cyrus' fetid asshole or being taken to a dog park where people interpret her as a dog-woman hybrid with an amputation kink is not enough, Fanny - it's time to get even scarier.

Unsurprisingly, her fans are aflutter with delight at a man "worse" than Cyrus, who he himself says he is a "jaywalker" compared to Alec's "arsonist":


So... you can all see the absolute horror when Cyrus is forced to eat out of a dog bowl and endure violent punishment and the total erosion of his dignity, but it's sexy and fun when Lynn has to? This fic isn't shocking because everything Alec does in this fic to Cyrus is something Cyrus has done to Lynn (forcing her to drink urine, raping her anally, treating her as a dog, taking photos of her nonconsensually, threatening to kill her if he gets bored with her, etc.)

They should do brain scans on this tier of misogyny, because this borders on neurological disability.

Having gone through Christianna's AO3 (not reading, but looking at the summaries and tags) I kinda wonder where you're getting that? It looks like only one of the fics out of the eight she has posted involves kidnapping. If anything, she's way more fixated on this Isabelle character. Maybe I'm just wishfully thinking that Fanny will go ahead and do something interesting for a change, but it seems to me that if Christianna was going to push Fanny to write anything, it would probably involve incest or Isabelle getting tortured.

Re-reading through this thread is odd, because on one hand, Fanny's content is horrifying. It's awful, degrading stuff, and the awareness that there are people out there who fetishize and get off on it is unsettling, to say the least.

This is arguably one of her most accidentally revealing AUs, so I collected various comments from her across various platforms to illustrate my point. We'll start off with the comics.

Usually, I consider Fanny's AUs fake and gay and do not care about them. But let's review this AU in the context of Limerence, her work under Laika Albarn. For those who haven't read Limerence in its entirety, I'll just be showcasing a few examples to illustrate my point.

It's worth noting that Fanny seems very, very fixated on the concept of a close, connected father figure that tries to emotionally support his daughter - whether asexual in intent like Cyrus or incestuous like her fake-dad Van. Knowing that Iusse, her real father, died when she was about 12, I'm sure there is some serious psychological tinfoiling one could get up to. The similarities continue in terms of sharing interests and seeming to have a bond with one another that they don't share with Mom (Lynn or Laika's fake mom), which always brings to mind this quote by Bonnie Burstow.

“Often father and daughter look down on mother (woman) together. They exchange meaningful glances when she misses a point. They agree that she is not bright as they are, cannot reason as they do. This collusion does not save the daughter from the mother’s fate.”

It also felt worth pointing out that Fanny insisted that Laika and Van's relationship start in Laika's 20s - no younger. Remember that ask she answered earlier where she stated that "it's way harder for a guy to groom his own kid as they get older"? See how in Limerence she writes Laika defending and justifying their relationship to others:

Similar to the way Lynn is in the background compared to Cyrus even in the context of their own relationship, so, too, does Laika's mother get a brief mention in Limerence 2, only to be fridged to leave room for Laika and Van to get busy with it. I mean, there is passing mention of her in Limerence 4, but it's really moreso about how "wah she was such a good woman! She would want us to be happy!" which just feels like naked wish fulfillment. Yucky.

And of course, while depraved and deranged acts of child abuse are alluded to (like the comic where Lynn thinks Cyrus is orally raping their daughter), it's all in good jest:

And perhaps most revealing of all: Van himself is exonerated from any allegations of actually being abusive to his daughter, despite all evidence pointing to the blatantly fucking obvious. Just like Cyrus, Van would never actually do that totally depraved and evil thing that you would expect him to! Jeez!
