The institutions are much too pozzed to allow this to proceed, but I’d love to see a study done where they cobble together a bunch of depressed early- and late-stage troons who are insistent that they will ACK! without hormones. The study purports to be testing new, extremely effective forms of E/T, when in reality, it’s just sugar pills and saline injections.
We’d watch as the troons extol the effectiveness of, and their euphoria under, these “new miracle drugs.” Then, we’d laugh as the truth is disclosed, leading to large-scale REEEEEEEing and some inevitably committing suicide once it gets proven to them in a way they can understand (à la
Chuck McGill) that they’re ackshuslly not heckin’ valid boys/girls, but instead mentally ill freaks who truly destroyed everything in pursuit of an absolute fetishistic lie.
Perhaps that should be a strategy for the parents of kids in the early throes of the troon mind virus- placebo hormones. The purpose would be to stop the suicide-baiting and self-feeding misery, while a decisive game plan can be formulated. It could also serve to delay things in the hope that the kid realizes they’re going through a phase. And if all else fails, revealing the truth about their godsend “hormones” just might show them that their insistent need for HRT to live is illegitimate and that they have a mental illness in need of treatment. It should totally mindfuck the kid à la Chuck when he realized the charged battery was in his pocket for 2 hours, and get them to seriously question “the whole trans thing.”
