I just decided to click on this thread and browse new posts, so please excuse my ignorance, but can someone tl;dr his wife's cancer stuff? I never heard it was fake until literally this moment.

It looks like he's got a serious case of PAWS (post-acute withdrawal syndrome). Apparently it can last years and years.

The other thing about Peterson's benzo abuse is he claims he didn't know how dangerous the drugs were, but that's an obvious lie. Benzos have been around since the 1960's and the dangers of addiction are well-known. A clinical psychologist would know about this for sure. He simply doesn't want to admit that he got addicted to benzos, which is made funnier by the fact that no one would really hold it against him if he just admitted it. Dude doesn't even want to take the first step of dealing with the problem.

I think that this is mostly fair. Where I do play devil's advocate is it's possible that the family doctor was retarded. We're not talking about a Harvard affiliate here, but some schmuck in Canada - a country that regularly has a shortage of doctors and rations care as a necessary result. I'm not saying that this was the case, nor am I trying to run defense for Peterson's addiction, but I do think that it's something worth considering. Either way, Jordan should have known what sort of fire he was playing with.

Peterson worrying about what an addiction would do to his public image is not unreasonable, but a rational person would say "look, see? I had a problem and I dealt with it. I cleaned my penis and it worked. I practice what I preach." Instead, I think it's pretty obvious that his ego got the best of him, coupled with whatever nonsense Mikhaila threw in there for her own ego and career as well.

Another thing that's important to consider is that quitting benzos is not straightforward. After long-term use (and/or abuse) of benzos, you need a lengthy and supervised taper or else you may suffer potentially lethal withdrawal effects like cardiovascular issues (e.g. heart attack or stroke) or seizures. Even the non-lethal withdrawal effects are terrible and could lead to rebound use. Once the chemical addiction is dealt with, you then have to deal with all the other underlying issues causing the drug use - depression, anxiety, stress, whatever. It appears that Jordan did not want to deal with either and wanted some sort of quick way out, which does not exist. Every addiction center probably told him he needed to step back from his public life, which was a major source of stress causing his drug use, and he didn't want to give it up.

The family doctor (or the psychiatrist, can't recall specifically but lean towards the primary care doc) ultimately is at fault, being the professional holding the prescriber's pen and the one responsible for putting his foot down & saying "No".

I take issue more with Peterson incredulously pretending he didn't understand the dependence dangers of benzos given his training and his line of work.

There's also the question of whether Peterson would've been seen for regular assessments in person. Given his high profile status and his pre-COVID travel schedule, his doc may have just been faxing in benzo scripts and making adjustments over the phone for convenience sake at Peterson (or his handler's) request without forcing Jordan to drag his sorry ass into a crowded GP's waiting room on a regular basis to look his doc in the eye (before breaking into tears over Communism or whatever).

Searching, I see a few passing references to the Tate thing... does anyone know, is there somewhere in here all that is described / link to w/e podcast she said that on? (Is it all made up?)

If the first one is true, it kinda surprises me that it isn't even more well known, because one would think she'd never escape from that...

The circumstantial evidence as I recall it is a picture of the two of them in a club or in his home in ?Serbia at the time (I realize Tate lives in Romania).

This was still at the height of the worst of the worst COVID restriction insanity in the first half of 2020. Jordan had already failed out of a few conventional North American drug rehab programs and had been whisked off to Russia for his wacky coma withdrawal benzo treatment.

While Jordan was under in Russia, Mikhaila popped over to Serbia to party with Tate even though she was married/separated and with a very young child. This again was during a period where significant parts of North America and Europe were under COVID house arrest.

She ended up getting COVID herself during her Eastern European galivanting and giving it to a frail and disminished Jordan B. just emerging from his coma and benzo withdrawal. The family then flew back across the Atlantic so that Jordan could recover outside of the public eye in Florida.

Jordan B. would remain disappeared for months with Mikhaila essentially assuming control over his entire social media presence, boosting her own stock and obfuscating what commentary was his vs. hers. Jordan remained looking weak and aged for sometime during his recovery, seemingly not keeping up with the dissident times, instead encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.

It wasn't until JB Peterson started touring again with vaccine passports in place at many of his venues in early 2022 that he really emerged from his 2 year hiatus to become the Zio-shill, crying, rambling, sellout version that we know of the Daily Wire today.

I think the biggest miscalculation on JP's part was not making use of the English speaking world’s forgiving nature in regards to addiction. Instead of engaging in the hard work of getting better over a five year period, he smashed the easy button and it ended up shattering both his physical and mental health.

Now factor in the time it takes for niche research to filter down to the salt mines of family medicine/general practice and being informed about benzo use is a relatively new thing.

Benzos were treated with the same level of caution as opioids twenty years ago (I realize the irony). Some GPs and pain clinics were having patients sign "Benzo contracts" much like they did with painkillers, which was essentially getting a patient to agree to a code of conduct before getting prescribed any of the good stuff.

There was no excuse for someone like Peterson in the business not to know.

Benzos are so used and abused because they work, and they work quickly for anxiety. The safer and boring alternative options are SSRIs, which while maligned, have virtually zero potential for abuse, but also work hardly better than placebo and take a good 4 weeks when they do.

Benzos are popular because they alleviate anxiety almost instantly, which is why their abuse potential is also so dangerous. This is why short-acting benzos are also used for fear of flying, medical procedures, MRIs, panic attacks, etc.

But like pretty much all Big Pharma drugs, physicians are exquisitely trained in how to initiate prescriptions and completely clueless and disinterested in how to stop them.

I agree, but I find the messages inside their propaganda and actions much more convincing than the positions of someones hand.
