It's probably because on most smartphones getting an adblocker is actually rather difficult for the average turd worlder. There are some that support adblocking extensions (Firefox and its forks) or have it built in (Vanadium, Bromite) but there's just some mental brick wall for them when it comes to, say, installing an APK file or even just looking at exextensions.

It really isn't all that hard, but I'll bet a lot of them aren't aware that there are apps that can be installed that aren't offered on the Google/Android store.

Disallowing VPN's(and mobile network IP's) is just a blatantly obvious anti-ban evasion measure. all the serious users feel more or less the same way
when the site began faltering and the quality fell off I found it to be a personal insult
I have great contempt for users who remained when I left for alternative sites

How likely is a balkanization of the site if/when it does come back? Like /pol/ and /lgbt/ get their own containment domains (sorta how the 4chan/4channel thing worked but on a greater scale) and the hobby boards also get a site.

I'm probably wishing for too much, I know. Just wish shartytards could go after the more controversial boards and leave the cool boards alone. I think it would also make the site more resilient against attacks like this, though I'm not a web dev by any means.
