And if they switched to some other open source imageboard software, it wouldn't be 4chan anymore.
Making a UI clone of Yotsuba is so easy it's already default on a lot of imageboard software. Adding reasonable filesize limits, IDs and even multifile support wouldn't besmirch the soul of 4chan more than the garbage CAPTCHA did.
4chan is not the crusty OS and outdated backend running on Mac Minis.

What do (You) expect from a imageboard UI?
What type of layout do you expect (centered, left justified, fill screen,80% of screen, etc.), what are essential features, and is there anything you want 4chan to improve on?

Preppers are retarded because, as we all know,
NOTHING EVER HAPPENS

It's completely unreasonable to even think anyone could do any kind of overhaul in so little time. Their intention is to just get it back up as quickly as possible. And if they switched to some other open source imageboard software, it wouldn't be 4chan anymore.
Quick, Good, Cheap. Pick two.

Trying to throw up the site as quickly as possible on the existing sitecode is a massive mistake. The odds that what was learned from this hack and compromising the entire server with root access is used to hack in again are extremely high.

Irresponsibly rushing to restore the site with bare minimum work is begging for trouble. You're already going to lose some mods/jans to being identified and if you get hacked again then you aren't going to be able to replace them (not with anyone you'd actually like to be replacing them because hey, signing up to moderate this site is basically license to be publicly associated with it.

The real answer is they should abide with what they originally said on basically "it's done when its done". Rushing to restore the existing site code just to hit the barrier of bringing the site back online as quickly as possible is reckless at best.

It's not like the Yotsuba site software and the backend were masterfully hardened services and there just happened to be one crack that was Achille's heel. The site was running on a PHP version with 100+ exploits (and an outdated FreeBSD operating system version) that went out of support nearly a decade ago. And now, thanks to this hack, the site code, the backend software, etc. versioning and how its configured are known. The odds that this information gives someone an in to hack the site again are high, and the odds that they do the work to just prevent someone from not pwning the site again immediately is low if they're just trying to get past the finish line.

Larger file size limits since they touted having new hardware
More than one file per post
Webp support because it obliterated gif and apng
Actually use wide screen space instead of clustering entirely into a 3:2 safe zone to the left
Stop restricting sound videos to a few boards while crying lolsuit
Actually suppress the coomers and schizos instead of letting it run rampant
Bigger oekaki pad

Or, y’know, a lot of the shit 8chan.co had in 2014/2015 they had an entire decade to embrace like all other imageboard software did (webp support is new tho)

nothing major, they're just releasing a read-only version of the site on Sun or Mon.. no one will be able to post yet, lol
They're clearly having trouble getting the vulnerabilities in the posting system patched and vetting it for potential other vectors. Now that there's blood in the water, there are probably going to be people attacking it the instant it's turned on.

Why this didn't happen sooner is beyond me. Maybe people just didn't bother, assuming anything that has been as relatively stable as 4chan for 20+ years had to be solid. Or maybe nobody hated the tranny jannies enough to bother. Nuking /qa/ was basically the beginning of the end for these arrogant faggots who everyone already hated.

>Larger file size limits
4MB is all you need
>More than one file per post
Or, collage your posts and put some effort into it.
>Webp support
PNG, JPG, GIF just work
>Use entire screen space
Strains the eye and forces me to move left/right more than necessary
>Stop restricting sound video
Only really used by gore generals on /pol/
>Actually supress coomers and shizos
Coomer and shizo site
>Bigger oekaki
Will kill the sovl
>the shit 8chan.co had in 2014/2015
Where is it now?

Nothing Ever Happening is a memetic force manifesting into reality from the 4chan egregore.
Is it a coincidence that since the second 4chan came down and for the past few weeks without its suppressing effect, multiple global events started happening?

And without 4chan I literally don't know what's happening anymore so, ironically, nothing's happened. Checkmate.

My demands:
  • Forced thread UID on the entire website. (To stop me from samefagging)
  • Forced country flags on the entire website. (To ignore posters from countries I dislike)
  • Forced "This user is on a phone/PC" on the entire website.
  • No VPN bypass through 4chan pass.
  • Removing "complaining about jannies/bans" as a ban reason.
  • Removing "no racism outside of /b/" as a ban reason.
  • 30 seconds captcha maximum.
  • Fully transparent ban/warning list.
  • Stickers. Just joking! Unless?

If any of those demands aren't met, I will abstain from gracing 4chan with my presence. (Certified quality effort poster)
