General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I was never self employed in my life but I'm sure that any contractor in my daily job does that. But yeah, an self-taught artist probably doesn't have a business background like a consultant or an auditor.
I doubt the artist collects any royalties on work for hire art. It's very rare in America (think bob kane was the only guy to be smart about IP, licensing and royalites. so no way for a japartist to get a better deal. stan lee doesnt get shit from his creations.

I don't see Nyana being an Invader. The IP ownership is iffy given the nature of how the character was created. It was either a Tenma or Pippa FlaVR stream, or one of the /vg/ community creations.

Yea but that means they won't be contacted when art is needed for the character or for future outfits. I doubt there's been many anyway

Was the model made with cutting the AI image? If not there should not be any real problem

Apparently (in a completely unsurprising turn of events) a Chinese company stole someone else's IP and stuffed it into their product.

The screenshot (as well as a clip of the scene that's also going around) seems to be taken from an AI translation someone uploaded to youtube of a Chinese made-for-cell-phone-viewing show.

I tried to find an english language website describing the show but there don't seem to be any, so the best I could get is google translating a chinese site.

From my limited understanding. No one can claim IP ownership of IP generated characters. However, if you were to take that art give it to an artist and they drew up their own rendition of it to make it something different. Then it is its own unique thing.

But yeah I Don't think its Nyana either. She's doing really well on her own. I can't see her taking the deal.

The current Nyana you know isn't like the original Pippa and Panko made when they were messing around with AI. Sure, it's still a catgirl with blonde hair, but the original one was basically a slutty gyaru with big tits. Also, if she has merch of her model on Uwumarket I can imagine that IP ownership wouldn't be a problem. But yeah I can't see her becoming an invader, just makes no sense for her.
