When I was in school, in order to be in the higher math classes you needed to buy your own graphing calculator. The school wasn't just handing them out and letting kids take them home. I don't know why they decided it was a good idea to give every kid a free Chromebook to do whatever they want with. Maybe this wouldn't happen if they had to pay a deposit at the start of the year and got it back when it was returned in good condition. I know you would get charged if your textbooks were fucked up when you turned them back in at the end of the year.
