Me, I would have really benefited from like a 50/50 situation type deal. I liked learning about useless historical facts, and taking biological classes that I would never end up using, but I agree that gaining practical experience and getting paid should start very very early. School is supposed to prepare you for work, not hinder you.

But you mention social media in what you say - the point I'm making is that social media makes shit much more present. This giant shit happens and then a week later is gone. It's only been like 100 days since the guy suicided himself in the cybertruck and no one has been talking about it at all.
public schools in my country force my cousins to purchase school HP/Lenovo Windows laptops or bring their own. well you can bring your own but the principal apparently states that it's better to buy school laptops for that all important school spyware that gets removed because the students reinstall windows eventually. they're absolutely fucking godawful for the price (like 1200 USD converted, sweet jesus then again the school is way higher in test rankings so it's filled with richer kids) because they shove useless shit like pens, two cameras, or fingerprint sensors but after 3 years of warranty, it's up to you to not break it because you either have to pay up the ass to HP, pray a technician in your city can repair it, or buy a new laptop.
I feel you on this. I never encountered the same environment in particular but had the good graces of having parents who would allow me unrestricted internet access and didn't bitch too much if I stayed up until 2 or 3 AM because I learnt way more shit on the internet than in a classroom.

Chrome OS is the most smooth brain "operating system" ever made. The way it's implemented when these machines are distributed to students basically locks them into how you imagine a tech-illiterate boomer to use a computer: As a bootloader for the web browser. All their school work is done through google's shitty suite of web office apps. Not even Microsoft Office, you type your essays into google docs. The only thing they can do is browse the web (barely) while a bunch of spyware tracks everything.

Okay, you're probably right. I'm just getting a little heated about this. I feel like them giving me a chromebook did nothing for me or my education. And the idea that kids are using them even younger than I was when they started doing it is horrifying to me.
