The problem with anime is that most of the more normal people have been driven to the fringes of the fandom by the nuttier part of the fandom. Those who haven't are either nutty themselves, the type of person who is too gullible/accepting and might get groomed into trooning, or have a pained look every time they talk about their fandom.
The problem is that around 50% or more of the anime fandom (not general anime watchers as a lot are mainstream) are autistic or prime troonout material. They spend all their time online and usually are the type to go through the moderator to troon pipleine, or are the type who want friends and belonging so they fall into any cult they can. The other 50% are the type who either quietly walk away from online spaces, get banned for speaking out against mod turned troon, or pay enough lip service to troons to skirt by.
In general, most nerdy hobbies like anime and games have been captured online by troons. Why? They're mods. Mods are the type of peopoe who sit online all day and enjoy abusing power over others, they're prime troon material. Once you have a janny become a tranny janny, it's all fucking over. This is why there's such a big disconnect between troons and IRL: on the internet, they get hugboxed and can be lulled into the fake sense of security that there are more pro-troons than anti-troons. They get a slap in the face when they walk outside and realize there's no moderator banning any "hate speech" or disagreement/hard question someone has with them.
