My (15FtM) dad has recently passed away and unfortunately it has left a huge impact on my family. Especially my stepmom who does not have a drivers license and can barely provide for herself. My dad was a big help for her and he was the one who drove her to her job as he was a SAHD. Unfortunately, he had poor health and had passed from what I believe is complications from diabetes and a weakened immune system caused by contracting covid multiple times.

Then there’s my mom, who pretty much let my former stepdad get away with abusing me and lied to me when she said nothing could be done. When I found out that she was in fact lying and something could be done about that, it broke me, and broke all my trust and love for her. After that I went NC with her but she never terminated her parental rights and my stepmom never married my dad or had legal ties to me, so I have no choice than to go with her.

I made a deal with her, and that if she could help my stepmom get back on her feet and then let my stepmom go through the adoption process (to adopt me) go smoothly, with no fussing or objecting the adoption, I would forgive her. I said she made a screwup too big to be able to just resume being my mother again and that this was the only way to truly fix things. She butted in and said “well, your stepmom is not my responsibility”. I told her I’m not expecting babysitting but rather helping her find a better paying job and helping her find a decent sized house. I then reminded her that I have most of the managers from my dad’s former job, and some of his friends who will fight her if that means I can be with stepmom, and this is the least she can do to repair the damage that has already been caused. AITA?

The Reddit consensus was that she was the asshole.

Apparently this post was removed for violating rule 8 of the subreddit. Not sure how, guess it's just general Reddit retardation.

Despite this being the only post to the account, it got suspended.
