The problem is, at the time, I thought it was just a cheeky joke — him treating that absurd internet drama with exactly the level of respect it deserved.

The real issue, however, is that he handles serious real-world matters in much the same way. And the troubling part is, he genuinely believes in this paltering logic. It wasn't a joke after all.
