n tokyo no less! not even in the sticks.
mr "you want joker's cock inside your underaged pussy?" is now going to be an english teacher in glorious nippon. Hide your kids
Oh my god oh my god oh my god ahahahahha
ahahahaha
this Dumb motherfucker ahhahahahahaha
This nigga better get ready to fight Japanese bums for a spot in the park.
I cannot describe how absolutely fucked this dude is unless he gets a natural 21 on a d20. Tokyo metro is nearly the size of some counties in the US, and if he is going to have to pay and arrange his own housing in tokyo he will be living out in the sticks unless someone literally dies as he's talking to the real estate agent.
I am super excited to see the hovel this tard winds up in, but also accept that he will likely find someone that will let him crash with them.
From what I've heard from people who actually have spent a few years teaching in Japan, its pretty good as far as working as a foreigner goes. Japanese kids take school pretty seriously and so as long as you're an effective teacher it goes smoothly (as it can being a foreigner) with the rest of the faculty.
Teaching English in Japan is a fairly laid-back, chill, no skill needed job, with the pretext of you being a normal functioning adult and not a mouth breathing, retarded, ex-speedrunner.
It will DEPEND. "Teaching English" runs a wide, wide gamut. There are some places that will have you be a private/cram school tutor and you are expected to know your shit and actually ensure your students learn, there are some that put you in highschools where you teach what the administration wants you to actually teach english. And then there are places that basically put you into middle/elementary schools for "english exposure" where you are essentially just an alien for the locals to gawk at.
It also verys a lot from school to school, and company to company. I knew a girl who did the Foreign English thing and the faculty were just utterly cruel to her, she nearly had a nervous breakdown, and her manager at her company berated her for letting it get so bad "why didn't you tell us sooner?" - so they gave her like two months of paid leave to go back home and put her in another school.
But I guy I knew who had a legit education degree and thought he'd be teaching highschool or at least advanced middle schoolers was turned into "elementary mascot", complained to his handler and was told "tough fucking shit, suck it up or eat your contract termination fee"
The issue is with Japan your work ethic is fucking everything. Chibi has routinely and consistently half assed, cheated, or slacked off entirely. He's gonna make enemies. I have a friend who worked overseas with the Navy and they don't really fuck around. On Mainland Japan, if you aren't efficient, you're a problem and you'll become a fucking pariah. That's to say nothing of the people he met on Okinawa. Seeing a seamen in local pubs was an event to them because of the concept of shore leave. Japanese people work until they fucking drop. My buddy said Japanese people have the work schedule most comparable to medieval peasants.
It depends. Up though 2000 it was very much that, but in the past 25 years Japan has been dialing back their most retarded work practices. I had a friend who was brought to Japan as a "loud American" and he was there to stop the utterly retarded shit like no one being allowed to go home until the big boss left, or expressly dismissed.
But Japan "worker harder not smarter" is the still largely the order of the day.
Also, as a visibly YT, especially around Tokyo, he will get cut some slack on Japanese social niceities because he is clearly a gaijin barbarian and can't be expected to know any better.
I knew a guy who was engaged to a Japanese girl, and she would invite her parents to their place but would always go home for Obon alone. He had to corner her and force her to tell him why - he'd met her parents, they liked him. He had been in japan for several years, and had done japanese cultural training. But according to her she was terrified he would inadvertently offend her parents; anything that happened in their apartment could be explained away as 'Gaijin house, Gaijin rules' but if she took him into her parents' house, he was going to get zero fucking slack from her dad.
As fun of a meme it is, working at a konbini as a foreigner requires actual Japanese skill. If I had to guess, the fact he's not lamenting his fate of being in the rural Japanese countryside, (unironically a great place to be if your goal is to actually enjoy the culture/nature of Japan and learn true Japanese,) Chibi is speaking to a dispatch company or an Eikaiwa about positions in Tokyo or Osaka, maybe even Nagoya or Fukuoka.
He's gonna get the extremely rude awakening of dealing with urban, uncaring, Japanese Landlords. Though I doubt he'll be smart enough to notice it, he will deal with his co-workers commenting on his pathic hygiene and grooming. He'll be making pennies compared to that At&t job, most of which will go towards rent, the rest he'll blow on gatcha and shitty anime slop. He'll be one of the most standout foreigners at a time when Japan is becoming hyper aware of retarded foreigners visiting their country.
He'll get burned out within a year, and become one of the dime-a-dozen jaded English teachers inhabiting the margins of Tokyo and Osaka.
All this being said, it's Chibi, so at the very least it's gonna be extra cringe and many laughs will be had at the inevitable catastrophe of this arc.
Agree on all that. Tokyo, being largely international, is not where you'd get a "true japanese" experience. It will be fun watching him run full tilt into the japanese housing market, especially in Tokyo.
