Few reasons I suspect.

One, I suspect most of his friends don't have children, so it was probably easy for them to think 'wow, it must be so much pressure with 5 kids, who can blame him?' and perhaps they just roll the polycule nonsense up into the 'well he wasn't in his right mind' perception.

Two, cancer is very personal to a lot of people. Most have had experiences with it. Elissa is not a major antagonistic figure such that Nick would even have a chance to look righteous in wishing her a painful death. Combine that with most people knowing firsthand how devastating cancer and major illness is, he looks unhinged. I thought he looked genuinely demonic in the face gleefully reading her announcement of illness.

What I question is how his friends didn't notice sooner that Nick has been unrepentant about the damage he's done, and clearly continued to use. But if this is what finally shakes off most of the remaining sweepers, well, so be it. Better late than never.

What Nick is leaving out because we "don't deserve the truth":

"Recognize jokes or understand calendars" means the farms caught onto his perverted bread crumbs he left to hint at him going to the Jamaican BBC resort to watch Our Wife have extramarital sex with Romaine and Ricardo.

And Nick was trying to subtly imply that Josh should delete the most damning information because it "wasn't correct." He then went on to infamously spend 30 minutes cokesplaining how he wasn't mad to @Potentially Criminal, listing out a bunch of things that have all been proven true since.

The only one that was not speculated on at the time was him claiming the farms was saying he beat his children. Now we have allegations of abuse floating around.

Nick must be fascinating to a psychologist. I don't think many narcissists get exposed and injured to the level Nick has. We're seeing the flailing attempts at regaining a narrative that will never recover. He is always the man whose 8 year old daughter:s hair follicles tested positive for cocaine use. He's the man who aired dirty laundry about a former fan (a very common narcissist tactic), and now he's the man who is actively wishing death on a woman because she clips him.

Note: Rekieta has NOT wished death on Elissa the same way a toddler starts kicking their sibling after you tell them to stop punching, because it's technically following the rules.
