Listen I hate react streamers as much as the next guy, but do you think if he wins this the precedent set is going to have any nuance or leeway for copyright and that it won't just rollback the few protections that do exist? Some of which the Matt Hoss suit set the standard for to begin with? Not saying it necessarily will, but it isn't an unlikely outcome, and Ethan by his own admission is soley doing this because he has a personal vendetta against these people. Is that really something people HERE of all places want to cheerlead?

The truth is though that the restreamers and those type of people do not actually provide commentary or transformative content. I don't think its going to set precedent since its extremely likely to be open and close.

There's a difference when something is posted here and people critique it for example or when dear feeder on MATI plays a clip and talks about it. People just wholesale posting entire videos and not doing transformative works or providing commentary has never been protected under fair use. People may not like that but that's what fair use is for.

edit: I wouldn't even really care that much except that restreamers typically derive an income from this bullshit. If you're going to pirate some faggots videos at least be open about it and pirate the shit - just don't go collecting a YouTube paycheck and setting up a fucking Patreon or whatever for it and acting like you're providing some "essential service" to humanity.

I generally dislike react content because I find it annoying how after you watch certain youtube videos your youtube recommends are then full of that same video, expect now being reacted to by Hasan or XQC or some other asshole. Why would I want to watch the same video over again only now with some retard occasionally mumbling some dumb shit? I think I find the type of people who like this kind of "react" content more hateable than the people who make it though.

I also dislike frivolous lawsuits and the strict copyright rules youtube already has, etc. Of course, there are exceptions, not all lawsuits are bad and Karl Jobst getting raped by Billy Mitchell was entertaining, also all 3 of the people Klein is suing are insufferable.

The lawsuit risks setting a bad precedent imo, copyright strikes on youtube are already applied way too aggressively and while I hate react content I would rather a world with no copyright laws than one where copyright law is extremely strict. I guess I wish for a world where copyright doesn't exist but there is no one dumb enough to want to watch someone else just sit there and watch a video without adding anything of value. A world where no one would ever willingly sit and watch Hasan or Destiny.

Oh well, might be fun to watch them fling shit at each other though.
